WWE News: The Undertaker Currently Being Advertised For WrestleMania 31, Will He Face Sting?

WWE legend The Undertaker has been out of the limelight since his first WrestleMania loss at WrestleMania 30 earlier in the year. He lost to the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar. Many hated the idea of Undertaker losing at Mania. It was a shock for all and made massive press for WWE. Even the referee had no idea about the result. One can imagine he was seeing his career flash before his eyes when he counted to three.

Many thought that this would be the last we’d see of The Undertaker. He lost, so what more could he return to do?

As we know by now, Sting has signed with WWE. He has now officially signed a performance contract, but the dates are small for now. He has only six, and spent one of them at WWE Survivor Series. All signs pointed to Sting wrestling Triple H at WrestleMania 31 due to the altercation between he and Sting at Survivor Series, however it has not been announced when we will see this match.

The story is there, plus Triple H is a fantastic worker who will take care of Sting in the ring. On top of that, the name value is there to make it a big main event. All signs pointed for it to be at WrestleMania.

Mania truck

Now a monkey wrench has been thrown into the fold. The Undertaker is now being advertised for the event. A tour bus in Atlanta has Taker’s picture on it along with the new WrestleMania 31 logo. Obviously, WWE has done this sort of thing before and changed things. They last did an advertisement for SmackDown moving to Thursdays, while it was still a Friday show. WWE changed the trucks up and SyFy put out their Fall line-up showing SmackDown as a Friday show. It turns out though, SmackDown is moving to Thursday nights once again in 2015. So the truck advertisement ended up being correct and then changed back to the original advertisement.

That means we can assume that Undertaker being on an advertisement could very well be an indication he’ll be at Mania, plus it is not the only truck he is on. While it does not mean Undertaker is a lock, as WWE has advertised people for events that they weren’t part of before, we can assume this is a deliberate thing to give fans an idea about what is coming.

The only match that makes sense for him would be with Sting. That is literally the only match worthy of his return to the squared circle. While Sting only has 6 dates signed so far, WWE could move up the timetable for Triple H and Sting to the Royal Rumble. This would waste dates, but Sting would certainly sign more if it meant he could have a match with The Undertaker.

Triple H sting

We know that currently Sting will be wrestling more than once in his time with WWE, So a match at the Rumble and Mania would make sense.

Sting is older than most who wrestle with WWE. However, he has obviously passed all tests needed. He also is still in fantastic shape. Fans want to see him in a WWE ring, wrestling some of the most popular talent. Triple H is a great first opponent. However, Sting/Undertaker has been a dream match for people for nearly two decades. The time is now or never for WWE to do this match.

Many think that WWE waited too long to make it happen. However, we cannot blame WWE for this. WWE has tried to sign Sting for years, but he never wanted to make the jump. It seems that now that he is here, he is very happy. Sting also wants to face The Undertaker and has made that very clear to all that will listen to him. While we may or may not see this, the idea that Undertaker could be back for WrestleMania is there. WWE does not seem to be denying anything, so we’ll have to wait and see.
