Duchess Kate Arrives In Style On Her First Visit To New York City
Duchess Kate arrived at New York’s Carlyle Hotel in style with a purple coat dress by Seraphine. She also had on a pair of black gloves with a matching clutch. Her dark hair was worn as she normally has it, which is down with flowing long locks.
All eyes were on the royal couple after their motorcade took them directly from JFK International Airport to the hotel on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The Carlyle Hotel was a favorite of Princess Diana’s when she visited the U.S. in the ’90s.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge went to their suite to prepare for a formal, but private dinner for fundraisers of their Royal Foundation. Kate showed up wearing the same black lace dress by Diane Von Furstenberg that she wore when she appeared at the Royal Variety Performance in November, The Independent reports. It was there she met a number of musicians, including One Direction and Ed Sheeran.
The Von Furstenberg design is a shorter style that falls just above the knees on Kate. The Duchess matched it with black heels and another black clutch. Large diamond earrings dangled from her ears.
When Kate was at the Royal Variety Performance, she had her hair in an elegant chignon-style updo for that appearance. In New York, the Duchess chose to keep her hair down for the formal dinner.
America, and the rest of the world, are anxious to see what other styles are to come when Duchess Kate arrives at her other engagements around New York during the next three days.
The Daily Beast reports that both the Duchess and her husband, Prince William, came to the U.S. with only seven members of their staff. Prince Charles is known to travel with a staff of 20 when he tours abroad.
In an earlier report, Inquisitr released a schedule of William and Kate’s itinerary. The royal couple will be busy with fundraiser conventions, public appearances, and formal dinners.
Prince William will travel to the World Bank in Washington, D.C. for an anti-corruption conference on Tuesday. Kate will be in NYC with the city’s First Lady, Chirlane McCray, at a child-development center. She’ll then attend a lunch to honor the city’s successful British community, hosted by the British Consul General.
Will Kate have a number of new designs for this U.S. trip? She turns up in recycled dresses and gowns occasionally. No matter what she’ll be wearing, when Duchess Kate arrives at the next event in New York, she’s sure to dazzle.
