Edward Herrmann: Actor Demands Whopping $14.5 Million From CohnReznick In Mismanaging Money Lawsuit

Edward Herrmann, the actor best known for Gilmore Girls, is suing his accounting firm in a malpractice lawsuit for $14.5 million because they mismanaged his money. According to Page Six, Herrmann is demanding that Cohn Reznick pay him all monies due. As outlined in court documents, Edward Herrmann stated to a Manhattan judge that the Cohn Reznick firm was negligent, and that he had blindly given the firm complete control over his money because he trusted them.

Edward Herrmann and his wife, Star Herrmann, gave the company complete power of attorney to handle the daily money transactions, such as paying creditor bills, making bank investments, and filing their yearly income taxes.

The actor has dealt with the CohnReznick group and the companies that preceded them for over two decades, the report continues. The couple became aware of the money problems just a year ago during an IRS audit, which indicated they owed back taxes. They knew something was going on after several companies declined to make repairs and improvements to their Salisbury, Connecticut, home.

The Herrmann’s also allege that the firm’s accountants used funds directly from Hermann’s account to pay personal expenses.

“The extensive pattern of errors on nearly every line and schedule of plaintiff’s federal tax returns is more than negligent or grossly negligent. Mr. Kantor and CohnReznick have attempted to cover up their… misappropriation of plaintiff’s monies.”

In a statement released by a representative, CohnReznick denies that the malpractice lawsuit has any basis, according to the New York Daily News.

“CohnReznick takes very seriously our professional responsibilities and the trust our clients place in us. We do not believe there is a basis for these allegations, but are aggressively conducting a thorough review of the matter.”

Edward Herrmann has enjoyed a long successful career as an actor, starring in many TV series, television movies, and theatrical films, making the latest mismanaged money allegations that much more sad for the actor and his fans.

In the documents, it is revealed that the 71-year-old actor has had to take money from his wife’s trust fund in order to pay medical bills related to a malignant brain tumor.

Earlier this month, a fake news story reporting the death of Edward Herrmann circulated all over social media pages with the following message.

“At about 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday (December 10, 2014), our beloved actor Edward Herrmann passed away. Edward Herrmann was born on July 21, 1943 in Washington, D.C.. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”

Representatives for Herrmann came out with a later statement, confirming that the actor was not dead but still very much alive. In September, the Inquisitr reported on Edward Herrmann’s portrayal as Franklin in the documentary The Roosevelts.
