Justin Bieber literally kept his new, platinum blonde locks under his hat — in this case, his beanie and a hoodie — during a day out at Venice Beach, California, on Saturday.
Despite posting a selfie of his dramatic transformation online on Friday, it seems the 20-year-old superstar isn’t quite ready to rock a close-up when he’s out and about in the real world.
Justin and his close pal, “All About That Bass” producer Maejor Ali, were spotted enjoying the sun, sand, and sights this weekend in Venice Beach, while accompanied by security.
The singer also posted a non-captioned selfie on his Instagram page.
The “Heartbreaker” singer swapped his usual brown locks for bleached blonde at a West Hollywood hair salon on December 4.
After partial-view photos hit the Internet on Thursday night, fans’ demands for a selfie were answered the next day when Justin posted a pic on his Fahlo account.
His caption? “blondebieber.”
Inevitably, the hashtag became the highest trending topic on Twitter for hours on Friday.
A flurry of media reports and opinions later, on Sunday #WeLoveYourNewHairJustin ruled the worldwide trends for hours.

Why Justin is still camera shy about his platinum blonde hair is anyone’s guess.
After all, the jig’s well and truly up.
Perhaps the heartthrob’s issue isn’t about his hair, but with the paparazzi that follow him everywhere he goes?
Whatever it is, it certainly made for some interesting shots of the Canadian ducking and diving around Los Angeles over the past three days.
We can still see you Biebs. The hitmaker’s blonde barnet can be seen peeking out from under his beanie.
Justin comes over all bashful as one bodyguard attempts to prevent shutterbugs from getting that platinum money shot.
The pop icon’s new hair isn’t the only recent change he’s made.
Hot on the heels of leaving the Beverly Hills Condo, at which he rented two units over the summer, Justin has moved into a new Beverly Hills mansion for $59,000 per month.
The Ed Niles-designed, glass-centric property comes with six bedrooms, a six-car garage, seven bathrooms, a state of the art kitchen, multiple reception rooms and entertainment centers, an elevator, a central atrium and an infinity pool overlooking Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean.
Justin was also keen not to let his blonde glory out of the bag while on a lunch date with his mom, Pattie Mallette, at Il Pastaio restaurant in Beverly Hills on Friday, December 5.
The singer later posted a shot of the pair to his Shots account.
His jokey caption reads, “Mamaaaaaaa.”
With the singer’s romance with on-off girlfriend Selena Gomez seemingly at a final end, his new pad, a possible but probably unlikely new romance with model pal Hailey Baldwin and an eye-popping, new blonde look — it’s clear Bieber is ringing the changes.
And who knows? One day, he might even let his new hair take a proper bow without all the props.
