Chicago Bears Rumors: Brandon Marshall Will Miss Remainder Of Season With Rib Injury

The Chicago Bears may have been dealt a costly blow to the remainder of their season, with sources close to the team saying that Brandon Marshall may miss the rest of the season after suffering fractured ribs during Thursday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Marshall was taken from the game by ambulance and remained hospitalized on Friday. He was hit by Cowboys safety Barry Church, with Church’s knee slamming into Marshall’s back and midsection.

“Yeah, it looked kind of [like] an innocent hit. I didn’t see it that well,” Bears quarterback Jay Cutler said after the game. “He’s a big guy and has taken a lot of crazy hits over the years. He doesn’t stay down. So whenever he stays down, you know something is seriously wrong. We’re all worried about him. He’s our guy, and hopefully he’ll get back sooner rather than later. He’s in pain. We talked to him at halftime a little bit. They are still checking him out, but he was in good spirits.”

At the time, Bears coach Marc Trestman said the injury looked severe, though the team hoped for the best.

“It’s scary any time that a guy goes down and is laying on the ground,” Trestman said. “We all worry for him. We’ll see, and we’re hopeful it’s nothing too serious. But at this point he is under evaluation.”

But the Chicago Bears said Friday that Marshall suffered a lung injury as well. Sources now say that Brandon Marshall has played his last down for the Chicago Bears this year.

The loss could be quite costly to the Chicago Bears. Brandon Marshall has caught 61 passes for 721 yards and eight touchdowns this year for the 5-8 Bears.
