‘Glitter & Ribs’: Billy Eichner Writes And Performs Song For Taylor Swift
Actor Billy Eichner is a huge fan of singer Taylor Swift, and he proved his love for her by writing her a song.
However, the song was not written to Taylor Swift. According to Eichner’s Wednesday interview on Conan, the song “Glitter & Ribs” was actually written for her.
“I wrote I song I wanted her to record, which I think sounds a lot like a Taylor Swift song… and I made a video for it that’s online. It’s like a Taylor Swift ballad but she hasn’t recorded it yet so I actually recorded it.”
Billy Eichner also told Conan O’Brien that the music and lyrics for “Glitter & Ribs” were both written by him.
Many people have covered Taylor Swift songs online before in the past. A simple keyword search on Google or YouTube would likely generate hundreds or even thousands of different songs from past Taylor Swift albums (including 1989) that have been covered and remixed over and over again.
However, very few people (if any) have been able to nail the overall concept of a Taylor Swift song with their own original spin like Billy Eichner was able to do successfully by writing and performing “Glitter & Ribs.”
Some of the actual lyrics that Eichner used in the song definitely do sound like something that Taylor Swift would consider writing herself.
“He was a boy. I was a girl. What more do you need to know? He was a boy. He walked through the door. He was a door-walking-through boy. And with burgers on the grill and sparkles on my eyes, he served me a fib with a side of lies. And we made out while wearing bibs. Wish someone told me, ‘Life wouldn’t always be glitter and ribs.'”
The reactions do get a little “creative” and even awkward at times (especially when Billy Eichner reveals that the 16-year-old girl in the song was talking about a 49-year-old man).
However, the clever wordplay and catchy melody both seem like something that Taylor Swift would write herself or at least perform as a hilarious tribute to Billy Eichner.
The 36-year-old comedian currently stars in the hit game show Funny or Die’sBilly on the Street, and was also a recurring character during the past season of the NBC series Parks and Recreation.

Even though he performed “Glitter and Ribs” on Conan, Billy Eichner originally posted an official music video for “Glitter & Ribs” back in July of last year on Funny or Die.
