‘Big Bang Theory’ Star Mayim Bialik Doesn’t Watch TV, But This Actor Made Her Starstruck

The Big Bang Theory actor who brings Amy Farrah Fowler to life, Mayim Bialik, had a surprising revelation in People magazine this week: she doesn’t watch television. The foil to Jim Parsons’ often less-than-romantic Sheldon Cooper, who was also a child star on the 1990s sitcom Blossom, says she doesn’t have the staple of family entertainment in her home.

“I don’t watch TV. I don’t have cable, so I couldn’t watch TV if I tried. I like to point out that I’m paid to be an actor, not to be a watcher.”

Although Mayim doesn’t watch television — and presumably doesn’t spend a lot of time swooning over celebrities — she also revealed there was one Big Bang Theory guest star who got her excited. And it was as much for his past relationship as for his professional work.

“We had Billy Bob Thornton on the show, and I’m a huge fan of his. I thought he’d be quiet and surly, but he was very friendly. Plus, I kept thinking, ‘This guy was with Angelina Jolie – that’s so cool!'”

In her side projects, Mayim doesn’t shy away from offering up behind-the-scenes tidbits and her own analysis of The Big Bang Theory plot lines. Last month, on her Kveller blog, Bialik dished on the prom episode, in which Sheldon told Amy he loves her.

“Amy says she is ‘always’ wanting more, but she does not hang her coat on that expectation coatrack the way so many of us do in relationships. She is fully aware that she wants more, but she is satisfied to be on this ride with Sheldon. Because she loves him unconditionally. She accepts him. She understands him.”

Mayim also revealed she wasn’t ready for this big step forward for Shamy — and that her makeup, hair and wardrobe were all different than we have come to expect from her character. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Bialik revealed on her blog in advance of the prom episode that some “great Sheldon and Amy stuff” was coming up.

She also told People that the last time she cried was when her former husband sent her a picture of their children.

“My ex sent me a photo of our boys dressed as Ghostbusters for Halloween at a little fair. Part of it was just that I’m sentimental, but I was a little sad that as a working mom I don’t get to be at all those things.”

The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays on CBS.
