Kate Middleton To Disappear: Get Ready For Three Royal-Free Months As Duchess Prepares For New Baby

Kate Middleton arrives in New York City next week for her much anticipated royal shopping trip and visit with friends and relatives along with her husband Prince William and their infant son, Prince George. But when the Duchess of Cambridge is done with her Big Apple adventures, she plans to drop out of sight — possibly for as long as three months.

Royal watchers and Kate Middleton fans will likely be beside themselves searching for news and gossip if Kate sticks to her reported intention to take a three month vacation — or “holiday,” as the British would say — to wait out the final trimester of her current pregnancy, until she gives birth to what is believed to be a baby girl, probably some time in April.

“Kate is planning to disappear for a few months,” said one anonymous source close to the British Royals. “It’s likely she’ll reappear closer to her due date. She’s reaching breaking point and just needs to chill out and do nothing for a good while.”

Indeed, the past few months have been stressful for Middleton as she battled a severe nausea condition brought on by the early stages of her second pregnancy.

As she attempted to recuperate away from the constant scrutiny of the press and public, she moved back in with her mother. But the separation from Prince William only led to feverish speculation that her marriage to the future King of England was already on the rocks.

Even as she was recovering, according to behind-the-scenes royal rumblings, Queen Elizabeth grew fed up with Kate Middleton taking it easy and ordered her to resume her busy schedule of public appearances representing the royal family — whether she feels like it or not.

Since then, Kate has been regularly seen out in public attending charity events and greeting foreign dignitaries.

Her family trip to New York is also set up to be a whirlwind. According to a report in Vanity Fair, though Kate and William plan to “let their hair down” in The City That Never Sleeps, their schedule is already packed.

They will be staying at the chi-chi Carlyle Hotel on Manhattan’s tony Upper East Side, visiting with William’s cousin Princes Eugenie — daughter of Prince Andrew and Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson — down in SoHo, and hosting a gala, $50,000-per-seat fundraiser on Tuesday for Britain’s St. Andrews University.

The Tuesday event will see a who’s who of celebrities, from Sting to Mary-Kate Olsen lining up to exchange pleasantries with the royal couple.

After that grueling schedule, Kate Middleton will reportedly disappear, so devotees should get ready for a three month royal gossip dry spell leading up to the momentous occasion of a new royal baby’s birth.
