Pro Wrestling News: Arrest Warrant Issued For Popular Indy Star Teddy Hart
Just a day after the major news of WWE Superstar Heath Slater having an arrest warrant out for him, the Toronto Star has reported that popular Independent Wrestling star Teddy Hart has an arrest warrant out for him. Similar to Slater, there was an assault of sorts rumored. The big difference between the two is that Hart is wanted on sexual assault charges by two different women and these charges are relatively current.
Teddy Hart, real name Edward Annis, is part of the famous Hart Dynasty of wrestlers. He is a grandson of Stu Hart. He trained at the infamous Hart Family dungeon like the rest and has been a relatively successful indie performer. The main issue with Hart is that he has been an issue with companies on more than one occasion and was always a backstage problem according to many, at least in his youth.
He was signed by WWE in 1998. He was the youngest person ever to be signed to a developmental deal by WWE.
He was let go later on due to repeated attitude problems. Hart then went to work for both Ring of Honor and TNA. Hart was then released from TNA after an altercation with CM Punk, of all people. Sabu had to separate the two of them. ROH also seemed to part ways with Hart at the time, but he later returned to the promotion.
This is the first case of sexual assault that Hart has been charged with, however. It is said that Hart is currently out of town but knows of the charges and is in talks with his lawyer currently about them.
Hart’s father, BJ Annis, had this to say about his son…
“He’ll be back. He’s talking to a lawyer right now, so we’ll see what happens. Hell has no fury like a woman scorned. I’ve spoken to him every day, and needless to say, he’s pretty upset by this.”
The two women who came forward reportedly did so when they knew Hart would be out of Edmonton on a wrestling contract. One of the victims says she hopes that the police find him soon. She hopes that others come forward regarding Hart, as well. This leads many to believe that Hart has assaulted more than just the two women who came forward, which would terrible for Hart in the end. He has multiple charges against him now from the two women currently — imagine if more came forward.
Hart is currently facing charges of sexual assault, unlawful confinement, and three charges of assault involving two women, aged 24 and 40. This would obviously mean that the two women left when he was out of town, due to being confined by him when he was in town.
It seems that his father wouldn’t deny the claims either, which is interesting. Normally, a father would call claims such as this ludicrous or unfounded. He basically said his son was upset by it and we’d have to see what happens. The 34-year-old Hart was said to have had some of the best potential of any wrestler out there. However, due to his attitude problems among other things, the bigger companies have chosen not to work with him. It is said that Hart is in the United States right now, so we’ll have to see what happens when he gets back to Canada.
