Torii Hunter Calls Reporter A ‘Prick’ Four Times: Watch The Viral YouTube Video

Torii Hunter has returned to the Minnesota Twins, and Hunter just signed a $10.5 million deal. However, his introductory press conference is getting lots of buzz on December 4, and for all the wrong reasons. When St. Paul Pioneer Press reporter Mike Berardino asked Hunter about his previous statements on gay marriage, it set Hunter off on rant during which he called the sportswriter a “prick” four times.

The above video version of the “prick” incident is going viral on the Fox Sports YouTube channel and gaining views by the hour, while ESPN claims Hunter berated the reporter.

It all stemmed from a conversation that has been chronicled on Yahoo Sports, which quotes Hunter as saying he would be uncomfortable with having a gay teammate.

“For me, as a Christian … I will be uncomfortable because in all my teachings and all my learning, biblically, it’s not right. It will be difficult and uncomfortable.”

It was with that backstory that Berardino asked Hunter to further clarify his views on gay marriage.

“The marriage question, is that the kind of thing that going forward you’re not going to mess with? Or are you just such an open, honest guy that if we ask you a question, you’re going to answer it.”

Instead of being prepared to defend his Christian faith as the Bible recommends, Hunter instead launched into an un-Christian like rant, calling the reporter a “prick” repeatedly – a move that initially drew laughs from some of those present.

“Naw, I mean no. There’s nothing to talk about. You already know. I said it. Why keep talking about it? It is what it is. Hey, Mike is kind of a prick, huh? No seriously, you’re a prick. I don’t even know you. You’re a prick, seriously. Ain’t nothing wrong with that man — that’s your job — but he’s definitely a prick, though.”

It was an unexpected response that certainly drew more attention than Hunter’s previous thoughts on the topic.

“Just go with the best person that’s good for the situation. And I’m from Arkansas and I know what’s there, that’s all. This has nothing to do with being a Democrat or a Republican, just make sure you make the right decision. That’s it.”

Prior to the “prick” press conference, Hunter was mainly known for innocuous actions, such as scoring fly balls, as noted by the Inquisitr. After his buzz worthy prick-presser, that fact has now forever changed.
