Meryl Streep’s Thanksgiving Saved By Gwyneth Paltrow

Meryl Streep may have had to go without Thanksgiving dinner if Gwyneth Paltrow weren’t her neighbor. Gwyneth saved Thanksgiving by allowing Meryl to use the oven in her her empty apartment. Meryl told Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan on Live with Kelly and Michael about her Thanksgiving disaster.

Streep and her family were celebrating the holiday in New York City. As the Los Angeles Times reports, Meryl’s turkey would not cook after 11 hours, so Meryl did what any sensible person would do — she called her neighbor to borrow the kitchen. Fortunately for Streep, her neighbor just happens to be actor and lifestyle guru Gwyneth Paltrow.

“I hate my oven, I hate it. And you never hate your oven more than on Thanksgiving Day when it won’t cook the turkey, and there’s always something. This year we were in the city and this oven just does not do it.”

It looks like Streep may need to remodel her kitchen in New York City. Meryl’s trip to Paltrow’s apartment inspired a bout of envy.

“She has the best oven I have ever seen in my life. It’s really, really, really, really true. I e-mailed her. They weren’t there, so I went over and I did all the sides in her oven. And my brother was in charge of the turkey that would not cook. The sides were fantastic.”

Meryl’s doorman let them into the apartment. Streep respectfully did not peek around the apartment, according to US Weekly. However, Streep loved Paltrow’s decorating abilities from what she could see.

“I brought one of my daughters who was dying [to see the apartment]. They are all equally bad. They had to draw lots for who went with me, but it’s a beautiful, beautiful place with the best oven I have ever seen in my life.”

Paltrow and her lifestyle business GOOP have been recently been criticized by lifestyle expert Martha Stewart, as reported by the Inquisitr. Celebrities starting lifestyle websites and businesses, such as Blake Lively, have come under fire for not sticking to acting, at least according to Stewart.

“She just needs to be quiet. She’s a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart.”

With Streep, a three-time Academy Award winner, now in Gwyneth’s corner, Stewart may have less ground to stand on.
