Amazon Wants Shoppers To Shop Even When They Are On The Toilet – Places Interactive Placards In Public Lavatories

Modern day professionals believe in non-stop productivity and Amazon Inc. in association with Procter & Gamble (P&G) seems to ask, ‘Why must productivity stop at the bathroom door?’

News that will surely come as a sweet music to the ears of such multitaskers, Amazon has partnered with the everyday household goods manufacturer to deliver ‘highly relevant’ ads to consumers. While this is hardly a new practice, Amazon has placed these ads in rather unhygienic location. The eCommerce company wants its consumers to shop while they sit on the toilet.

While it is somewhat rare to find advertisements in the toilet, Amazon’s advertisements will also have interactive features. These features are simple barcodes that interested shoppers can scan with Amazon’s smartphone app. As an appreciation for shopping from the loo, Amazon will also award virtual coupons for buying P&G’s products.

The campaign, called “Stall Mall,” urges bathroom-goers to “Sit, Shop and Save!” The coupons featured in the companies’ ‘Stall Mall’ are the full range of P&G products, ranging from batteries to teeth-whitening strips, reported Click On Detroit.

Of course, these coupons will also have discounts for products that people currently sitting in the toilet will find most relevant; like toilet paper, paper towels. Though not specifically mentioned, advertising agencies believe, the coupons might exist for other products like Always and Tampax brands of feminine hygiene. Currently, deals include bathroom-appropriate items, including $2 off Charmin Mega Rolls, Double Rolls and baby wipes, $7 off Crest 3D Whitestrips and 50 cents off Febreze and such.

Apparently, the company has conducted ample research and the promise of snagging a sale from a person sitting on the throne is quite high. According to a recent survey conducted by Charmin, one-third of Americans say they like to be “productive” while on the toilet. Of the people who have purchased items while sitting in the toilet in the past, 13 percent have bought household goods. However, commercially vital statistic suggests, more than half would buy something while on the john if they got a discount for shopping while nature is calling.

In case you want to shop while you do your business, you might want to go toilet-hunting in New York at Paramus Park, Staten Island, Willowbrook, and Woodbridge Malls. In Los Angeles, you can avail the discounts in the loos at the Glendale Galleria; in Philadelphia at the Christiana and Neshaminy malls, and in Seattle at the Alderwod, Bellis Fair and Westlake malls, reported Today.
