Angel Di Maria Injury Update, Winger Will Stay At Old Trafford

Angel Di Maria is expected to miss Manchester United’s crucial upcoming matches with Southampton and Liverpool.

After Manchester United defeated Stoke City at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening by two goals to one, the Red Devils manager, Louis Van Gaal, discussed some of the injury worries that are currently ravaging his squad with Manchester United’s official website. This included the status of Angel Di Maria, who recently suffered a hamstring injury during the first half of Manchester United’s match with Hull City.

“Di Maria is not so heavy but of course he shall not play against Southampton. But never know.”

Angel Di Maria’s wife then added to the worries of Manchester United fans across the world by alluding that the winger will be out for two weeks, which means that he will also miss the side’s game with Liverpool a week from Sunday.

According to the Daily Star, she admitted that Angel Di Maria only had “a small tear” to his hamstring. However, any injury to this area of the body usually means that players don’t return to action for at least 10-14 days.

His injury is a huge blow to Manchester United’s pursuit to finish in the top four of the Premier League.

Di Maria was purchased for $100 million from Real Madrid in the summer to become Manchester United’s record signing. However, despite the fact that he only signed for the English outfit a few months ago, there have recently been rumors that Di Maria might be transferred soon.

As the Inquisitr reported earlier this week, Angel Di Maria has made it clear that he was previously tempted with a move to Paris Saint-Germain. The French side were also interested in purchasing Di Maria when Real Madrid made it clear that they wanted to sell the player in the summer.

There was speculation that Paris Saint-Germain were now prepared to increase their bid for Di Maria, having previously decided that he wasn’t worth the $100 million that Manchester United splashed out on the player.

But this speculation has now ceased after it emerged that Paris Saint-Germain have now targeted another midfielder to purchase instead.

Laurent Blanc, PSG’s manager, told L’Equipe, via the Express, “I see a great player in [Chistian] Eriksen. He was already strong at Ajax and has become even better in England. It would be nice if we could have him with us.”

Do you think that Angel Di Maria will be at Manchester United at the start of next summer?
