Al Sharpton Slammed As He Continues To Fight For Justice: Many Fear Upcoming National March Will Lead To More Riots

In wake of New York’s grand jury decision not to indict Officer Daniel Pantaleo for the videotaped chokehold murder of Eric Garner, Al Sharpton has opted to speak on behalf of the family. Since this is the second grand jury decision to come back with the same results, the 60-year-old civil rights activist has announced his plans to take the fight for justice a step further.

During the Garner family’s press conference at National Action Network headquarters on Wednesday night, Rev. Sharpton announced there will be a national march in Washington D.C. on Saturday, Dec. 13. The upcoming march is currently being organized to protest the grand jury’s decisions following the murders of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, who were both unarmed and killed by white police officers.

Since neither officer was indicted, Rev. Sharpton feels the epidemic is becoming a national crisis that signifies the lack of importance for the lives of African Americans. Although many protestors will probably attend the march for justice, others wonder if the event will be a rally of peace or potential riot. Since the city of Ferguson was set ablaze at the beginning of last week, many Americans fear a proper protest cannot take place without looting and vandalism.

More than 46,000 viewers weighed in with their comments and less-than-favorable sentiments of Rev. Sharpton.

“Hey Sharpton, why don’t you tell your brethren to simply comply with simple requests or orders from police instead of causing problems for themselves and everyone else. An innocent person has nothing to fear from the police. You and your ilk are the racists who don’t react to non-blacks being killed. Just because a person is black doesn’t give them privileges and immunity to laws. Shut your racist, bigoted mouth!” one viewer said.

“Al Sharpton is so busy now, advancing the cause. The cause of Al Sharpton being there, in the spotlight, complaining how it is all the white man’s fault, the white man who keeps the black man down, the black man who needs to fight, and fight, and forget about going to school, or being honest, or not engaging in criminal acts, but just fight on, protest, and blame,” another viewer agreed.

“It’s really getting embarrassing to admit to being an American lately. America has definitely gone off the tracks and it’s gonna be hard to get her back,” another viewer said.

Although many feel the decision not to indict Pantaleo was another display of injustice, unlike Officer Darren Wilson, he did show remorse for Garner’s death. Here’s an excerpt from his statement: “I became a police officer to help people and to protect those who can’t protect themselves,” Pantaleo said in the written statement. “It is never my intention to harm anyone and I feel very bad about the death of Mr. Garner.”
