‘Girl Meets World’ Season Two To Include Mr. Feeny, Eric Matthews, And A Mystery Character

Girl Meets World was being talked about well before it even hit the airwaves. The Disney Channel show is a kind of spin-off from Boy Meets World, which charmed audiences in the 1990s. GMW follows the daughter of Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence as she struggles to find her way in the world. It is similar to BMW and, in that sense, many fans of the original have tuned in to Disney’s new show in hopes of seeing some of their favorite characters.

From the beginning, it was made very clear that Girl Meets World would be a separate entity from the original show but that it would include some familiar faces. Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel both reprised their iconic roles, with William Daniels returning for a brief cameo as the beloved Mr. Feeny. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Rider Strong, who played Cory’s best friend Shawn Hunter, will make an appearance on the upcoming Holiday episode of the show along with Betsy Randle (Amy Matthews) and William Russ (Alan Matthews).

While fans of Boy Meets World will no doubt love the mini reunion, they will be even more excited to learn that Season 2 of Girl Meets World will include even more of their favorite characters. A Twitter account for the writers of the show made the big announcement Wednesday on Twitter, according to Perez Hilton.

“Announcement: Today’s script at the table read is called Girl Meets Mr. Squirrels,” the first tweet read.

Immediately, fans of the original show will recognize the significance in the title of that episode. “Plays With Squirrels” is a name that Eric Matthews adopted in one episode. Will Friedle, who played the goofy older brother, seemingly confirmed his appearance on the upcoming season of the show to his fans as well.

“There is nothing as important as family. I think it is time I met my niche. #WednesdaywisdomwithMrSquirrels”

He followed it up by saying that you “can go home again.” Obviously, fans will be very excited to learn what Eric Matthews has been up to since the last episode of Boy Meets World. The final episode showed Cory and Topanga leaving for New York for Topanga’s new job with Shawn and Eric tagging along. However, it is unknown if Eric stayed in New York, went back to Philadelphia, or did something completely different. Luckily, fans will soon find out and it looks like they will find out more about another fan favorite, Mr. Feeny.

“Announcement #2: We just completed two shows with William Daniels. The cast went to Mr. Feeny’s house to retrieve something from the past,” the second announcement read.

William Daniels had a brief cameo on the premiere episode of Girl Meets World. Since he appeared only to Cory Matthews, some fans thought that the beloved teacher had passed away and would not be making any more appearances. That is not the case!

“Announcement #3: Now that we have introduced you to our girl’s world, both worlds will merge more often. Announcement #4: Shawn, Eric and Mr. Feeny will be an important part of season 2. Lives will change. People will grow. People won’t.”

The writers also revealed that another character from Boy Meets World will make an appearance on the new show but so far, no one is sure who that could be. There is some speculation that it could be Mr. Turner, who had not been seen since the third season of Boy Meets World. The last scene showing Mr. Turner was in the hospital after he crashed his motorcycle. His sudden absence suggested to some that perhaps Mr. Turner had succumbed to his injuries, but things seemed different when, on the high school graduation episode of Boy Meets World, Minkus (who also had not been seen since Season 3) claimed that he, along with Mr. Turner, had simply been on the other end of the school!

Interestingly, Lee Morris has reprised his role as Minkus on Girl Meets World. It was revealed early on that he is the father of Farkle, a friend of Riley and Maya’s.

Disney has had high hopes for the show and renewed it for a second season before the first season was even halfway through. It looks like the optimism paid off and Boy Meets World fans will get more of their favorite characters on Girl Meets World.
