Christina Aguilera Contemplating Proposing to Matt Rutler

Christina Aguilera is so anxious to marry boyfriend Matt Rutler, she’s willing to buck tradition and propose to him. That’s according to ‘inside sources,’ who told all to In Touch Weekly. Says the mole:

“She makes jokes about him proposing all the time in front of him. He gets a little embarrassed, but it’s obvious they’ve talked about it. It’s coming soon. She wants to start over and thinks that asking him to marry her is the way to start.”

While it’s pleasing that Aguilera is a modern enough gal to get over the traditional he-asks-her proposal, the star of Burlesque could be waiting a while. Despite all her vast wealth, Rutler remains a (comparatively) poorly paid production assistant, and apparently wants to wow Aguilera with a premium rock when he pops the question.

In Touch Weekly‘s insider says Rutler intends to propose this year (25 days left, chap!), but not before he’s saved his cents for the most beautiful/vulgarly expensive ring imaginable. And unsurprisingly, it looks like poor Matt’s credit card is in line for a battering:

“He’s going to propose this year, even if he has to buy the ring on credit.”

The besotted couple began dating in November 2010, meeting on the set of Burlesque. Their relationship took off just a month after Aguilera announced her divorce from Jordan Bratman – that marriage lasted five years.
