Kelly Rowland’s Mother, Doris Garrison, Dies ‘After A Long Ailment’
Kelly Rowland’s mother, Doris Rowland Garrison, passed away on Tuesday.
Media Takeout reports that Doris struggled with “a long ailment.”

This tragic news comes less than a month after Kelly Rowland and her husband, Tim Witherspoon, welcomed their first child together into the world.
Titan Jewell Witherspoon was born on November 4 at around 1:30 P.M. and weighed 7.5 pounds, according to People magazine. Kelly Rowland was undoubtedly very close to her mother.
For Mother’s Day in 2008, she addressed a meaningful letter to her mother (Doris Garrison) as well as Tina Knowles – the mother of singer Beyonce Knowles and Kelly’s “second mom.”
In the portion that was specifically addressed to Doris, the 33-year-old Motivation singer reflected on her childhood memories of her mother encouraging her to sing and also doing her very best to balance her family responsibilities along with her demanding job.
“You’d look at me like I was the sun and the moon and say, ‘Sing up, baby…a little louder.’ It meant so much that you believed in me. When we had rough times in Houston, you did your best to balance our family with your job as a live-in nanny.”
Rowland also wrote about the chaos that her mother had to endure after Kelly Rowland joined the popular R&B group, Destiny’s Child, alongside longtime friend Beyonce.
“I know it was difficult for you to run me back and forth for rehearsals… I spent a lot of nights at the Knowleses’ house… You came by every day, though, and cooked dinner, and we’d all eat as a family. It was because of your strength and sacrifice that I was able to dream so big.”
In the concluding portion of her heartfelt letter, Kelly Rowland thanked both her mother, as well as Tina Knowles, for being her heroes, best friends and for grooming her into the woman that she has become today. She also mentioned that she could not wait until she was able to give them grandkids.

VIBE reports that no specific cause of death has been reported.
As of right now, Kelly Rowland has not made any official statement either to the press or through social media.
