‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ Gameplay Revealed In Rocksteady Reddit AMA

New Batman: Arkham Knight gameplay details have emerged after a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Saturday. While not giving too much away, we now see there was even a bit of evolution over development time.

The Arkham series has always been about stealth, massive combos, and as Jack Nicholson’s Joker put it in the first successful Batman film, “those wonderful toys.” One such toy is the introduction of a drivable Batmobile, as previously reported by the Inquisitr.

Rocksteady has put an incredible amount of attention into making the iconic vehicle flow smoothly with the notorious gameplay, and according to the new trailer below, it works quite well.

Arkham fans are eagerly awaiting the chance to turn the car into a part of their combat arsenal. Rocksteady also detailed how the Batsuit has evolved to work with the car and enhance the Batman: Arkham Knight gameplay.

“We wanted to highlight the interaction between Batman and the Batmobile – you’ll see that the suit mirrors the design of the car in a lot of ways. The new suit impacts gameplay as well, as it enhances some of Batman’s abilities, particularly in the way [that] Batman and the car work together.”

The Batsuit has definitely shown some tweaking since we first saw screenshots of the game in progress. It has become more robotic, which could indicate part of the story’s progression as Batman realizes his armored suit isn’t enough, and goes partly bionic.

The enemies will also show more skill than they used to, with animations and combat mechanics having been enhanced even further. Enemies will now dodge and counter, forcing you to change your combos if you want to stay on top of the Batman: Arkham Knight gameplay.

We don’t know yet if Rocksteady has fixed the problem of the environment being a boon to combos, but Rocksteady says the sights will apparently be just as detailed as they always were.

“Now that we’ve got all of Gotham to explore it’s a great experience. The ‘City’ design team here has done an amazing job building an environment that’s huge and intricately detailed. The detail in ‘Arkham’ games was always my [favorite] thing about playing them before I joined Rocksteady, and it’s awesome that the guys have managed to keep that level of care on something so much bigger.”

This probably means that with the Riddler returning once more, we can expect his challenges to be just as complex as ever, and take advantage of every aspect of Batman: Arkham Knight’s gameplay.

A new trailer is said to be due tomorrow morning, possibly revealing even more about Batman’s latest exploits against the mysterious new villain. It might even reveal clues to winning the further improved Predator challenges.

Rocksteady also revealed something about the story, which contains spoilers for Arkham City. If you haven’t played it yet, feel free to stop reading now. During the Reddit AMA, they were asked if it was harder to write the story for Knight than it was for City.

“I think it’s quite the opposite! Sefton has said that when they started work on ‘Batman: Arkham City,’ they had the vision of the final scene Joker’s death almost from the start, and looked at the story from the perspective of the events that would lead to that point.

“With ‘Batman: Arkham Knight,’ that ending is the point that we jump off from, asking ‘what happens when Joker is removed from Gotham’ and looking at the fallout from those events.”

Are you excited to see the new elements added to the Batman: Arkham Knight gameplay? See the trailer tomorrow morning for even more surprises as we eagerly await the Batman: Arkham Knight release date of June 2, 2015.
