Trey Songz wants people to start giving back to their communities and he’s leading by example. Songz just performed a benefit concert for his Angels With Heart Foundation in New York City and all the proceeds from his latest EP, “Inevitable,” will also be donated to charity.

Songz performed songs like “Love Faces,” “Good Feelings” and “Invented Sex” to a sold out crowd at the Hammerstein Ballroom. BET reports that Ne-Yo joined Songz on stage to perform their track “The Way You Move.”

From the stage, Trey said:

“This is something bigger than myself. I realized I have the power to impact lives, and it’s time to send that love back into the world. Every dollar from tonight’s show will go to my foundation.”

Trey Songz fans that couldn’t make it to the concert could watch the show online for $5. All the money generated went to the Angels With Heart Foundation.

Here’s a video from the Trey Songz benefit concert in NYC.

In an interview with the Global Grind, Songz said:

“A sold out show in NYC, a show streaming on the internet $5 dollars a pop, isn’t money to sneeze at. That’s going to be a lot of money placed towards the betterment of some people’s lives… My foundation is directed at one initiative, it’s about bettering the world… I’ve learned that my voice is not only made to sing with.”

The Angels With Heart Foundation was started by Trey Songz in 2010. The Foundation encourages Trey’s fan club, Trey’s Angels, to give back to their communities.

Songz said:

“Because I have been blessed to be in the situation where I am able to touch and be heard by so many people, it’s only right that I use that voice to give back and empower the youth, strengthen families and communities”
