Sylvester Stallone Promises A PG-13 ‘Expendables’ Film ‘Won’t Happen Again’

With an unrated version of Expendables 3 coming to Blu-ray and DVD, Sylvester Stallone has admitted that giving the third film in the franchise PG-13 content was a bad idea.

During an interview with Crave Online, Stallone was asked if any of the franchise’s possible future entries will be given an R-rating. Stallone said they would, and it was a mistake to give the third film a PG-13 in the first place.

“Absolutely, unequivocally yes. I believe it was a horrible miscalculation on everyone’s part in trying to reach a wider audience, but in doing such, diminish the violence that the audience expects. I’m quite certain it won’t happen again.”

Sylvester Stallone also admitted that an R-rating might make it more of a challenge to bring back a character originally thought to be dead.

“This is a big conflict for me because, in an R-rated film, it is difficult to believe that none of the heroes die. I personally just believe that the characters become identifiable and their demise could put a dark cloud over an audience exiting the theatre after seeing the film. But that may change in Expendables 4.

In related news, it looks like the supposed feud between Sylvester Stallone and his Expendables co-star, Bruce Willis, has come to an end. According to E! Online, Stallone tweeted the following in 2013, when he announced that Willis would not be in the third film.

But a tweet from last week seems to indicate that Stallone and Willis have rekindled their friendship.

One of the actors Stallone is looking to recruit for the next entry in the action franchise is Jackie Chan. During an interview with Den of Geek, Chan said that if he does appear in the fourth film, he wants it to be done a certain way.

“Sly wants me for Expendables 4. I said, ‘Okay.’ Because they already asked me to be in two and three, but I refused. Well, I didn’t refuse, but I said, ‘Sly, can’t we just do you and me? Not just a bunch of people and me only coming out for five minutes.’ Because then the audience is, ‘Oh!’ And then I’m gone. So, if I’m in Expendables 4, I want it to be me and him — then it might be interesting.”

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Sylvester Stallone will soon begin production on Expendables 4 and Rambo V. But according to his mother, Jackie Stallone, the project he’s doing in between those two will be a movie about his life and his acting career.
