Florida Police Break Up Student-Led High School Prostitution Ring
A Florida high school student is in jail today after being caught allegedly running a prostitution ring out of her high school, pimping fellow students as young as 15, NBC News is reporting.
17-year-old Alexa Nicole de Armas was arrested and charged with human trafficking of a person under the age of 18, a felony in Florida, according to The Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
“Why pimp out old hoes when I have fresh young hoes I can give up for money? As long as I’m getting paid I’m trafficking all these [expletive deleted].”
Also arrested was 21-year-old John Michael Mosher, who allegedly tried to pay for a sex encounter with a 15-year-old girl in the prostitution ring with $40 and a bottle of liquor. He is currently held in the Sarasota County Jail, charged with attempted sexual battery of a victim older than 12. The sexual encounter was to take place in the shed at a community swimming pool, according to a police report obtained by the Herald-Tribune.
“[The underage girl] stated she told Mosher she did not want to have sexual intercourse with him which he disregarded and forcefully held her against the wall of the pool shed building, restricting her movement and ability to flee.”
Florida police learned about the high school prostitution ring when students from nearby Venice alerted them to it. Police say that they learned of the prostitution ring in October when four females at Venice High School told administrators that a male student at their high school had approached them about joining the prostitution ring. De Armas and an accomplice had not limited their prostitution ring to just Sarasota High School, but other area high schools as well. As of this post, it is unclear if Venice High School was among those schools or if de Armas was merely interested in expanding her prostitution ring to that school.
Unfortunately, the Florida high school prostitution ring is not the first case of high school students being pimped out by their peers. In June 2013, according to this Inquisitr report, Minnesota high school cheerleader Montia Marie Parker allegedly pimped out a younger classmate to perform oral sex on a customer for $60.
Police expect to make other arrests connected to the high school prostitution ring this week.
