Sadie Robertson isn’t the best dancer left on Dancing with the Stars, but don’t be surprised if the Duck Dynasty star’s quack attack ends with a Mirrorball Trophy win. Alfonso Ribeiro might be the most talented dancer on the show, but Sadie doesn’t need to have the fanciest footwork to prevail — she has Liam Payne, the South, and two beloved video game characters in her corner.
Mark Ballas appealed to Americans’ love of nostalgia, pop culture, and video games last night when he led Sadie Robertson through a freestyle routine set in the Super Mario Bros.’ colorful 8-bit world. Mark dressed up like a fabulous sparkly Mario, and Sadie transformed into the high-flying, active Princess Peach from Super Mario Bros. 2. The couple entered the stage via giant green warp pipes, and Luigi and Toad eventually joined their joyful dance. Robertson and Ballas even set their freestyle routine to the Super Mario Bros. theme song. You can check it out below.
Even though Sadie Robertson’s footwork was a bit sloppy, the judges were enamored with Mark Ballas’ creative routine. According to Yahoo! TV, Julianne Hough was ready to throw gold coins at the couple and Carrie Ann Inaba gushed that their Mushroom Kingdom dance was worthy of the DWTS hall of fame. Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas received a perfect 40 for the fun freestyle.
Ballas and Robertson are a killer combination. Ballas is great at coming up with themed dances that are huge crowd pleasers, and this season he’s created routines that appeal to various different crowds — there was the Halloween zombie routine for fans of The Walking Dead, the Up-themed routine for Pixar lovers, last night’s Super Mario Bros. freestyle for video game junkies, and his bearded and feathered number aimed at appealing to Duck Dynasty fanatics. Sadie and Mark also treated fans to an encore performance of the Duck Dynasty dance last night, and they scored 38 points for the redo.
Speaking of Duck Dynasty, fans of the Duck Commander clan could be Sadie Robertson’s secret weapon against Alfonso Ribeiro and Janel Parrish. As CarterMatt points out, the “Southern voting block” helped Bristol Palin and Bill Engvall last much longer on Dancing with the Stars than they should have. It’s true that neither Engvall nor Palin took the Mirrorball Trophy home, but they weren’t very good dancers. Sadie actually has enough talent to take her to the top.
As the Inquisitr previously reported, Robertson also got a huge endorsement when One Direction singer Liam Payne visited her dance rehearsal to let her know that he’s a fan. Liam even asked his 18.6 million Twitter followers to vote for Sadie, and this could give the Duck Dynasty star a very big boost.
Hey everyone I almost forgot please vote for @sadierob call #1-800-868-3411 be huge for her if she could win and she deserves it

If Sadie wins, expect Alfonso Ribeiro and Janel Parrish supporters to blame this tweet for giving Sadie an unfair advantage.
Sadie Robertson’s YouTube views are also evidence of her popularity. Last week she and Mark Ballas performed an Argentine Tango that got over 285,000 views on YouTube. In comparison, Alfonso Ribeiro’s Argentine Tango only earned a little over 33,000 views. However, Alfonso brought back his funky Fresh Prince of Bel-Air movies for an energetic jazz routine earlier in the competition, and it’s still the most-watched DWTS video of the season with almost 5 million views. America really, really loves The Carlton.
Alfonso Ribeiro earned two perfect scores last night, and his freestyle was incredible. He was the first DWTS contestant to perform a tap solo, and his fancy footwork really wowed the crowd. As the Inquisitr previously reported, the tap dance was a fun throwback to Ribeiro’s Broadway days.
Do you think Sadie Robertson will shock everyone by beating out Alfonso Ribeiro and Janel Parrish for the Mirrorball Trophy tonight on the Dancing with the Stars finale?
