Ferguson Riot: Watch Live Coverage Of Unrest After Michael Brown Verdict

Ferguson has erupted into riots after the Michael Brown verdict came in with no indictment for officer Darren Wilson, and a number of local and national media outlets have live streaming coverage of the growing unrest.

On Monday, the grand jury announced that Wilson would not be indicted for the August shooting death of Brown, an unarmed teenager who had been suspected of trying to rob a convenience store. While some witnesses said that Brown had his hands up at the time of the shooting, others say he was attacking Wilson, and forensic evidence appeared to back this account.

Not long after the Michael Brown verdict was announced on Monday night, Ferguson erupted into riots with crowds throwing rock and bricks through store windows and setting fire to a police cruiser.

Missouri officials have been prepared for the possibility of riots in Ferguson. Close to a week ago Governor Jay Nixon declared a state of emergency, allowing the state to bring in National Guard troops.

Some of the most intense live coverage of the Ferguson riot comes from reporter Charlie LeDuff, who is interviewing rioters and providing up-close video of the destruction in the Missouri city. Charlie’s Twitter indicated that he was even struck by a tear gas canister during his reporting. His live stream can be found here.

The Ferguson riots also appears to have spilled into neighborhoods in the city. Reports indicate that some businesses have been set on fire. and that crowds are growing increasingly angry.

But it is unclear just how much of the Ferguson riots are due to protesters angry over the Michael Brown verdict. Some of those who spoke to reporters blamed agitators who seemed intent on rioting and causing destruction, and several times the more peaceful rioters have tried to calm those trying to incite violence.
