Mike Brown Trial Reaction: Brown’s Mother Screams And Sobs; Police Deploy Tear Gas


The mother of Mike Brown screamed and sobbed over the decision of the grand jury to not indict Officer Darren Wilson, reports USA Today. President Barack Obama spoke in the wake of the Mike Brown case, telling the public that there are ways to channel concerns constructively – as opposed to the ways that some are using the Mike Brown case to only focus on using violence as their means of speaking out.

We need to accept the grand jury’s decision about the Mike Brown case, President Obama told the nation, saying he joined the parents of Mike Brown in asking anyone who protests this decision to do so peacefully. Hurting others or destroying property is not the answer, President Obama said, all the while understanding that a deep distrust exists between police in certain urban areas and the community residents in areas such as where the shooting of Mike Brown took place.

Nobody needs good policing more than poor communities, President Obama said, urging activists to focus on the parents of Mike Brown and toward focusing on long term solutions that offer real progress that’s truly possible.

According to the Inquisitr, the grand jury in the Mike Brown trial consistent of three African Americans and nine non-blacks.

When it became clear that no indictment would be handed down in the wake of the Mike Brown grand jury decision, tear gas was deployed and certain police cars were vandalized with bricks.

A number of people have been tear-gassed, reports CNN, with reporter Don Lemon wearing his own gas mask while reporting live in the wake of the Mike Brown decision. There are plenty of peaceful protestors in this kind of situation, but the tear gas being fired into the crowd has made for red eyes and overcoming reactions for the CNN staff.

Gunshots have been heard in the midst of the violence on the streets of Ferguson, with bottles being thrown by angry protestors – a small number of angry protestors have stopped the police from travelling through various areas, while the police say it is an unlawful assembly while shooting tear gas canisters at protestors who are angry at the Mike Brown case decision.

During the live coverage of the Mike Brown trial decision melee, reporters such as Don Lemon were videotaped coughing at the result of the tear gas being deployed by police, who formed a line and slowly moved forward to disperse the crowd.
