‘GTA V’ Server Issues Persist, Rockstar Games Working On Fixes Alongside Online Heists

During this past weekend, users experienced trouble connecting to the online servers of the recently launched Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of Grand Theft Auto V. Despite the fact that Rockstar Games released a new title update for GTA V on Saturday that was supposed to fix the issues by improving server stability, dozens of gamers are still making reports to Rockstar support that they are unable to connect to the title’s online servers even after the patch was deployed.

Even with the continued problems, Rockstar Games has decided to leave all editions of GTA Online listed as operational on the game’s server status page at this time. This is because the bug isn’t affecting all GTA V users. However, the developer did recognize that there is still a problem after tweeting that they now working to further resolve the connection problems as soon as they can.

In the meantime, Rockstar Games is directing players to a troubleshooting guide that the developer published last Tuesday to coincide with the launch of GTA V on the Xbox One and PS4. To make sure that that they are able to connect to GTA Online, users on both systems should make sure that their NAT type is set to open.

Playing with either a moderate or strict NAT type can cause issues when connecting to GTA V‘s online servers. To find what their NAT setting currently is, users can test their connection by accessing the network settings of either platform. The developer also suggests that those connected to a home network should reset their router if problems persist.

These workarounds are only intended to be a temporary fix until Rockstar Games is able to release yet another GTA V title update in hopes of fixing connection issues. In addition to fixing the launch issues from the next-gen editions of GTA Online, the developer is also currently working to finally add online heist missions to the game. The Inquisitr reported earlier in the month that cooperative heists will be added to GTA V with the first content update to release after the game launched on the new generation consoles.

However, Rockstar Games has not provided an exact date on when fans should expect that particular update to become available. It is also unknown if the current GTA Online connection issues will delay the launch of the new co-op heist feature, or if a separate team is working on bug fixes, leaving some members to continue making progress towards the release of online heists within the GTA V multiplayer mode.
