Rita Ora’s Cameo In ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Leads To More Acting Roles

Rita Ora’s short stint as Mia Grey in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey film has been good luck for the singer and actress. Rita says that the cameo has “opened the door” to other movie roles. Fans can expect to see a lot more of Ora in the future, according to the actress.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, Rita discussed playing Mia, and that the movie has been good for her career despite the controversy surrounding Fifty Shades of Grey.

“Everyone is going to have their own opinions. But for me this was such a great cameo to be involved in, and even though I’m only in it for a little bit, it’s opened the door to a lot of movie things that I haven’t actually announced yet.”

The small role made Ora want to act in other projects.

“I have the bug, for real. ‘Fifty Shades’ was a moment of cameo and a really good wake-up call. It was nice to be a part of it, and it opened a lot of doors.”

Rita earlier said that auditioning for her place in Fifty Shades stressed her out, as reported by the Inquisitr. Ora had to adopt an American accent for the audition in order to play Mia. Rita also had to sharpen her acting skills, including wearing a brown wig and speaking French to make her character come to life. Ora said the role “was like going back to school.”

However, the film is not the first time that Ora has been on the big screen, says the Hollywood Reporter. Rita’s first role was in the 2004 British gangster flick Spivs. Ora also had another cameo in last year’s Fast & Furious 6 that was predominantly filmed in London. Rita is actually an alumna of the Sylvia Young Theatre School, a London-based independent performing arts school.

Mia, Ora’s character, is the adopted sister of main character Christian Grey. The film adaptation of British author E.L. James’ trilogy will release on Valentine’s Day in the United States. The books depict the relationship between college graduate Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, a young businessman. Mia’s role develops during the books to have a relationship with Ana’s friend, but it has not been stated if Rita will be slated to act more for the trilogy if the first film is a success.

“‘Fifty Shades’ is going to make a lot of waves, I’ll tell you that much. It’s going to be awesome.”
