WWE: Brock Lesnar’s UFC Return Allowed By Vince McMahon? Seth Rollins Frustrated By Contract

Brock Lesnar’s UFC return has become the topic of conversation in recent weeks, ever since UFC President Dana White announced the former MMA fighter may have an interest in returning to the octagon. Is it possible that Vince McMahon could actually allow such a move based upon Lesnar’s contract?

In a related report by the Inquisitr, Brock Lesnar’s schedule has been updated to include another Monday Night RAW showing related to Royal Rumble 2015. Dana White also shot down rumors that Lesnar may go to MMA competitor Bellator.

Out of anyone, Seth Rollins has the biggest reason to be frustrated by Lesnar retaining the WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt. Rollins may hold the Money in the Bank contract, but he’s been given very few opportunities to use it. After all, when Lesnar German suplexed John Cena into the ground for the title, many assumed the Beast would show up at least every 30 days in order to defend his title. Instead, Lesnar has wrestled one time since winning the championship, which has Rollins fairly frustrated according, to the Miami Herald.

“I think it’s bull crap. I don’t appreciate it one bit. I’m sitting here with this contract biding my time. I want to be the WWE world heavyweight champion now. I don’t want to wait around to when he decides it’s cool to show up … I want him to be around so I can keep an eye on him and make sure that WWE world heavyweight championship is within eyeshot. That’s my goal and on the horizon for me. When he isn’t here or not around, it can be pretty frustrating.”

As everyone knows by now, Vince McMahon is all about the business, which gives the WWE leader plenty of excuse to keep Brock Lesnar sidelined. It’s believed that Lesnar’s contract is for $5 million a year based upon a very limited number of showings at major Pay-Per-View events. Since the company is trying to transition to the WWE Network streaming platform, this fact leaves them in quite a financial pickle, since their negotiating power is now largely based upon a fixed income that fluctuates only with the change in subscriber numbers. Dana White does not have that problem, since the UFC would pay a flat rate in addition to any extra PPV income generated by the supposed pop generated by Brock’s UFC return.

But could Vince McMahon allow Lesnar to be both a WWE champion and a UFC fighter at the same time? WWE contracts typically contain a no-compete clause that would prevent such a scenario, but it’s rumored that in the case of Lesnar, the WWE made a rare exception based upon Lesnar’s previous history of contract lawsuits.

“People in the know can’t believe that Vince McMahon would allow Lesnar to sign a deal with WWE that would allow him to do a UFC fight at the same time…. Brock will not be leaving WWE he is interested in doing both and it seem WWE will give him permission to take [UFC] fights during how downtime with WWE as Brock is on a pay per appearance deal and has a certain amount of dates too fulfill in a one year term.”

In the past, Dana White has been pretty adamant about not allowing his UFC fighters to work elsewhere at the same time, so having the Beast in both the UFC and WWE seems a very unlikely scenario. But simply having Brock Lesnar show interest in MMA again gives plenty of incentive for Vince McMahon to give him the boot, according to Jim Ross.

“It’s going to be curious to see how WWE addresses the contractual issue with their part time, WWE World Champion Brock Lesnar as his contract is allegedly expiring shortly after WM31. There is no way that I would roll into Levis Stadium with Brock as the Champion if I did not have a new contract in place for the amazing athlete. If Lesnar isn’t signed to a new, more WWE friendly deal by early January there is no reason for him to make it out of the Royal Rumble as the WWE World Champion.”

Currently, the rumor mill has Roman Reigns still taking on Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 31, and it’s presumed the John Cena feud will continue at Royal Rumble in January. But if the rumblings from UFC continue to grow in strength it’s very possible Seth Rollins may be able to cash in on that WWE title.
