Sloppy Packers Take Down Adrian Peterson-Less Vikings 24-21

The Green Bay Packers have already shown that they are one of the best teams in the NFC and are expected to make a strong play for a spot in the Super Bowl. Aaron Rodgers has played some of the best football that any quarterback has played in years, but the Packers still didn’t look too super in their 24-21 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.

Mind you, these are the same Vikings that have a rookie (Teddy Bridgewater) at quarterback and are without their star running back, Adrian Peterson. Many thought Peterson could be back this week, but his suspension is still in place and it’s not even known if he’ll return to play this season.

It was not the greatest game for Rodgers as ESPN reported, but he didn’t need to be at his best. Packers running back Eddie Lacy ran for 125 yards on 25 carries and one touchdown as he plowed through the Vikings’ line all day.

Rodgers knew that his running back had the game totally in control.

“He’s agile for a guy his size. He’s got a great spin move. He takes care of the football. He does all the things you want.”

The Packers took over sole possession of first place in the NFC North thanks to the play of Lacy and others, but it wasn’t a great game against a Vikings team that has struggled all year and is now 4-7. With the Chicago Bears struggling and the Detroit Lions losing to the Patriots earlier in the day, the Pack moved up top.

As the game began to wind down, it was Lacy who kept the chains moving per Pro Football Talk, and took time off the clock. It shouldn’t have been that way though as the Vikings, who have been sloppy all season, continued their messy ways on Sunday.

Bridgewater threw one interception and was sacked twice, but the offense continues to be rather anemic. Against the Packers, Jerick McKinnon was the leading rushed with 54 yards, while Bridgewater racked up 32, but the firepower of Peterson is sorely missed.

The rookie quarterback for the Vikings continues to show signs of promise though as he did throw two touchdown passes, and even put together a nice drive late in the game to get within three, but it was too little, too late.

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers will next face Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in week 13 in what many have said could be an early Super Bowl preview.
