Anna Duggar Discusses How She Faked Faith To Appease Others, ‘I Was Just Acting Like A Christian’ [Video]

Anna Duggar, Josh Duggar’s wife on the reality series 19 Kids And Counting, is perceived by many as being the perfect Christian wife. She takes care of her husband, home, and children. She always appears to be cheerful and steadfast in her faith. However, in a very candid video confession, Anna Duggar discusses her faith, and why it wasn’t always the front-and-center of her life.

Anna and her sister Priscilla Waller sat down together to discuss “the best decision they ever made.” The video begins with Priscilla’s story about accepting Christ into her life. Her story is rather straightforward. Conversely, Anna’s story is very surprising for many that watch the “perfect” wife on television.

Anna is extremely honest and open about her relationship with God. Therefore, it may surprise many to hear that for the majority of her teenage years she was “just acting like a Christian.” Anna speaks about how she had never accepted Jesus into her life because she honestly didn’t think she needed him. She felt that she was a “good girl,” and was making good choices, so she didn’t need Jesus to “take the wheel,” so to speak. She preferred to hold tightly onto that wheel because she thought she was a pretty good drive.

However, in a Sunday school class, a teacher asked who had been saved and Anna was the only student who didn’t raise her hand. Similarly, the teacher asked who had been baptised, against Anna was the only one who didn’t raise her hand. She said at that moment she felt like she didn’t fit in so she went home and asked her parents if she could be saved and baptized.

“I prayed the prayer [to be saved] so I could fit in with everyone else in Sunday school…I knew I hadn’t given my life to the Lord. I knew I wasn’t saved…I was just acting like a Christian.”

Some time later, Anna was in a rollover accident with her sister. She knew she could have died.

“If we had died, I know where I would be. And in my heart, I was like ‘yeah…I know where I would be. I would be in hell right now if I had died.’ That is really scary.”

You can hear all of Anna’s confession in the video, but does the not-so-perfect Christian past of Anna surprise you? Did you know that Anna Duggar struggled with her faith during her teenage years?
