Rihanna Close To Signing A Design Deal With Puma

Rihanna is close to sealing a deal with Puma amounting to $1 million, a source told the New York Daily News Confidenti@l.

According to the source, the German multinational athletic company is already starting a team for their “lifestyle” line, and Rihanna will be working with them.

“She is going to have her own coordinator to go to at Puma who only handles her, and they’ll have a junior coordinator helping them. The focus is shoes, but she will also be helping with pants and tops.”

Aside from her singing, Rihanna is known to be a fashionable woman who loves to flaunt her personal style with the way she dresses. The source mentioned that the deal is worth seven figures, and that it will prevent Rihanna from wearing rival brands. Although Rihanna hasn’t made the deal with Puma official, reports say that she is committed to the project.

“The offer isn’t signed yet, but she is in 100% and wants to do this.”

If the deal with Puma pushes through, it won’t be the first time Rihanna has been involved with fashion. She has been a co-designer for the British store River Island, and has also worked on jeans and underwear for Armani. Furthermore, Rihanna has released two makeup collections for MAC.

The Barbadian singer, whose real name is Robyn Fenty, also filed for trademark for the names Fenty Clothing and Fenty Apparel over the summer. This sparked rumors that Rihanna will start her own clothing line. The trademark documents stated that she filed for several categories, including swimwear, cosmetics, lingerie, and apparel.

In an interview with British Vogue early this year, Rihanna talked about her fashion sense.

“It’s not all down to my voice. There’s people with way more talent that I when it comes to singing; bigger voices. But people want to know who you are. Fashion is a clear indication, a way to express your attitude, your mood.”

This will not be Puma’s first collaboration with a singer. In February, Solange Knowles was hired by the company to act as an art director for their collection of sneakers.
