WWE News: Roman Reigns’ Return Date Revealed

Roman Reigns, who has been out of action since late September when he was forced into emergency surgery for an incarcerated hernia, is scheduled to return on one of the WWE’s two house shows on December 26 at either the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois or Madison Square Garden in New York City, according to F4WOnline’s Bryan Alvarez.

Reigns has appeared on RAW twice since his surgery, both times via pre-taped promo. It was rumored that Vince McMahon absolutely hated one of the two taped promos, however, it’s likely McMahon hated both of them due to the fact that they were both removed from the WWE RAW replay on Hulu.

With Reigns scheduled to return in late December, that gives WWE about one month to decide if they still want Reigns to main event WrestleMania 31 and win the WWE championship, as the Royal Rumble event is taking place on January 25. Most WWE fans are expecting that Reigns will be the last man standing in next year’s 40-man Royal Rumble match.

It’s possible that Reigns could return to television before he makes his return on WWE’s live event on December 26. But, as of now, that is still up in the air.

When Reigns went down prior to WWE Night of Champions in late September, he had his sights set on “Mr. Money in the Bank” Seth Rollins. So it’s almost a sure-thing that Rollins and Reigns will pick up right where they left off following Reigns’ return to the WWE.

There were some WWE fans that were hoping that Reigns would recover from his hernia surgery in time to make a surprise appearance at this Sunday’s Survivor Series and join Team Cena in an effort to take out Team Authority. Unfortunately, Reigns still needs a few more weeks to recover and be cleared for full-contact in the ring.

Reigns is already becoming somewhat of a polarizing figure to the WWE fans. Most every fan who regularly watches the WWE product knows what WWE has planned for Reigns in the future. As a result, some fans are already starting to turn on him; they’re of the opinion that he’s not ready to be WWE’s next mega-star.

When Reigns returns to WWE in late December, WWE will be doing everything they can to try to sway those fans who are turning on Reigns to jump back on the Roman Reigns bandwagon. But whether the people are with Reigns or not WWE is likely going to have him win the championship at WrestleMania 31 in March.
