Hank Baskett Admits He’s In A ‘Deep Depression’ Following Transsexual Model Scandal

Hank Baskett risked, and very nearly lost, everything, after it was revealed that he had had a sexual affair with a transsexual model while his wife Kendra Wilkinson was heavily pregnant with his child.

But now, according to a Radar Online report, the proverbial chickens are coming home to roost, as Hank finds himself in the midst of a deep depression, as a result of his actions.

Baskett told US Weekly this week that, following his 2011 release from the Minnesota Vikings, his self-esteem suffered a big hit, as no other teams showed any interest in him. He told the publication that he, “completely lost [his] identity” and “felt like a failure.”

Baskett continued, “For 20 years, my life was, ‘Catch the football! Catch the football,'” adding that he “started holding everything in because [he] felt like no one could understand.”

In his efforts to pick up the broken pieces of his life, Hank said he went, “through a serious struggle with depression, and during that time … lost the ability to open up to [his] best friend, Kendra.”

After the alleged affair with Ava Sabrina London in April, Baskett’s depression reportedly intensified to the point where he “hit rock bottom” and felt like losing his family was a foregone conclusion.

He continued in the interview, “I had trouble thinking of the right thing to say the right way, especially in a situation like this, where it’s your word against someone else’s. One wrong word and I could lose everything.”

Hollywood Life reported that when asked if suicide was ever an option in his mind, Baskett said, “There was a point where I felt that I couldn’t defend myself and there was no way for me to make it through this… but I realize there’s no way I could ever check out on my kids and my wife. I’m not a quitter,” he said.

For her part, Kendra Wilkinson took the news of the affair hard, as was to be expected, but dealt with it maturely and calmly, ultimately deciding, “All I can say is I believe Hank … he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and unfortunate things took place — he’s very gullible and naive.”

Hank Baskett is, by all accounts, very much looking to the future and trying to put his troubled past behind him as he concentrates on winning back his wife’s trust and saving his marriage.

“Since day one, I’ve been comfortable with Kendra looking through my phone,” he said. “I always want her to know I have nothing to hide.”
