Afton Elaine Burton: Exactly Who Is The Woman About To Marry Mass Murderer Charles Manson?

Afton Elaine Burton seems determined to marry mass murderer Charles Manson. Manson, 80. Burton and Manson have received a marriage license and now many are curious about who this 26 year-old St. Louis native is?

The bride to be, who now goes by the name Star, told CNN that she discovered Charles Manson at the age of 16. From that point on Manson became an obsession for Barton.

Burton became smitten with Manson, after learning about his environmental philosophy, known as ATWA, air, trees, water and animals. Burton began secretly writing to Manson.

When she turned 18, Burton went as far as to relocate to Corcoran, California to be closer to Manson. Her parents were devastated by the move. She began running a blog called Release Charles Manson Now. On the blog she published letters of support that were written by other Manson fans.

Burton has told the media that she believes Manson is innocent and that she is working hard to find evidence to prove that once they tie the knot.

Previously Manson has denied that he and Burton were planning to marry.

“That’s a bunch of garbage. You know that, man. That’s trash. We’re just playing that for public consumption,” Manson told Rolling Stone back in 2013.

Burton was raised in a deeply religious family. Burton claims that she was locked inside her bedroom during her high school years when she refused to go to church and started using drugs reports Fox 2 News.

Burton’s father, Phil Burton, recently told The Daily Mail that he and his wife, Melissa, would not attend the wedding.

‘We have not, we are not going to and we never will, no matter what she does in her life, disown our daughter. I love my kids more than life itself. I love my daughter, my wife loves my daughter and I know she still loves us,” Phil Burton, 45, told the Daily Mail from his Bunker Hill, Illinois home.

“She’s always been, even as a young girl, very focused on whatever was in front of her, whether it was saving the whales or whatever. I think this particular situation [with Manson] came at a time in her life when she was really digging deeper for bigger answer,” Phil Burton added.

Afton was just 17 when Manson began to play a role in her life. She was young and innocent a perfect mark for Manson.

So far, no date has been set for the wedding. The couple has 90 days from the date of the license to marry without having to reapply. Officials say, the wedding must take place on visiting day and they can have 10 people from outside the prison. No outside photography will be allowed.

Barton’s contact with Manson is limited during visits. They are only allowed to hug each other at the beginning and end of each visit. Due to the fact that Manson is serving a life sentence, conjugal visits won’t take place even if they do marry.

“I’m completely with him, and he’s completely with me. It’s what I was born for, you know. I don’t know what else to say,” Burton says.
