Breakup Text Viral: Man’s Detailed Message Dumping Woman Receives Worldwide Attention

A breakup text has gone viral after a woman shared the detailed message on Twitter. Since Amy Nelmes posted the text her friend received on November 13, it has been retweeted more than 18,000 times and more than 26,000 Twitter users have marked the tweet as a favorite. According to Yahoo News, Amy’s friend received the epic breakup text after seven weeks of dating an unidentified man.

What were the man’s reasons for the split? There were six reasons for the ending of the relationship. The reasons varied from the man being uncomfortable about how she interacted with his cat to the woman not being open about how many sexual partners she had in the past. Two more of the reasons the man gave are shown in the image above. The man also thought she didn’t spend enough time with him, and he called her swearing unladylike.

The identity of the woman that received the breakup text was not revealed either, but she did speak about her now ex-boyfriend with the news media in Australia.

“He was 30, had a job, a car and a house. Certainly not what I normally manage to attract, so I thought I was onto something. He was a bit of a nerd, perhaps a bit quiet, but a genuinely nice guy all the same.”

The woman also explained the reason behind her behavior toward his cat. She revealed that she is allergic to cats. She also revealed that she never replied to his breakup text. In the future, she will not date another man that has a cat.

The Inquisitr reported on the initial reaction to this breakup text earlier this week. Those on social media were quite vocal about “Bobo’s” breakup text on social media. Amy has continued to share people’s reactions to her tweet on Twitter.

One might not think that a breakup via text is common, but that is not the case. With new technology, things change. Earlier this year, the Daily Mail reported that 56 percent of relationships ended in 2013 were ended via text. Those that responded to the survey revealed that breaking up via SMS felt it was “less awkward” than splitting with the person face-to-face. The Huffington Post also revealed that men are more likely to dump via SMS than women.

One reality star recently revealed that she ended her own relationship via SMS message. Nikki Ferrell split with her boyfriend Juan Pablo Galavis via text, according to Life & Style. She revealed the following about the end of the relationship that began on the last season of The Bachelor on ABC.

“We were just going back and forth through texting. He was questioning the relationship, and I was questioning it back. I sent him a message saying, ‘We should fight for this. We should work this out.’ And he didn’t respond.”

After the non-response, Nikki posted angrily on Instagram, blocked him on Twitter, and deleted his phone number from hers. She admitted to the publication that she acted “impulsively.”

Technology has made things easier, but it has also created more problems. What do you think of this viral breakup text? Have you seen a relationship of your own end via text?
