It’s Official! Kathy Griffin Will Replace Joan Rivers On ‘Fashion Police’

After weeks of speculation, Kathy Griffin has been announced as Joan Rivers’ official replacement on E!’s Fashion Police. After Rivers’ sudden death it wasn’t known what E! was going to do with the show.

Talk that Joan Rivers’ great friend and colleague would take over for her started to emerge earlier in the month. At the time, Kathy Griffin admitted she was conflicted over the idea that she would replace Rivers in a position that Joan loved so much.

During an interview Griffin said, “They did offer it to me. I don’t know if the situation is correct at this time for me, or right for me at this time.”

A source close to the production told TMZ that Joan and Kathy often spoke about Kathy taking her place on the show.

“They talked about it many times. They have such a similar sense of humor and were the best of friends. Joan would have loved seeing Kathy on Fashion Police and she would have definitely approved.”

Griffin, in the same spirit as Joan, is known for her off-the-wall comedy, and has gotten into hot water over her outrageous acts and willingness to trash everyone on the A-list to the D-list. Even though E! once fired her from red carpet duty because of her controversial nature, Kathy is going to be a perfect fit to continue Fashion Police.

According to TMZ, Griffin has accepted the deal, but she won’t be alone. Griffin will be joined by co-hosts Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne, and executive producer Melissa Rivers.

Instead of airing on a weekly basis, Fashion Police will run during awards coverage only, which means Kathy Griffin will probably make her big debut with the Golden Globes when it airs this upcoming season.

Here’s what some people think of Kathy’s new position over at Fashion Police.
