Jimmy Fallon Drummer Apologizes For Michele Bachmann Song

Roots drummer Questlove apologized on Tuesday for choosing to play the song “Lyin’ Ass Bitch” by Fishbone as Michele Bachmann walked out onto the Jimmy Fallon TV studio stage.

While the song uses the lyrics “slut trash can bitch” the band instead sand the “la, la, la” of the refrain.

After the show Jimmy Fallon tweeted:

“@Questlove is grounded.”

While the Roots drummer issued the following apology:

“The performance was a tongue-in-cheek and spur of the moment decision … The show was not aware of it and I feel bad if her feelings were hurt. That was not my intention.”

While it was a “spur of the moment decision” Questlove apparently wanted everyone to know what the band had done, he tweeted later in the day (the show tapes well before airtime):

“Late night walkon song devotees: you love it when we snark: this next one takes the cake. ask around cause i aint tweeting title.”

Later on in the day Questlove retweet this sentence from a fan:

“Perfect entry song for her.”

For their part the Bachmann camp has left the issue alone.

In other Bachmann related news it was on a Today Show appearance on Monday that Bachmann was asked if she was treated unfairly by the media to which she tweeted:

“Sometimes you wonder about that,” she said. “I have no way of knowing.”

Do you think the Roots were attacking Michele Bachmann because she’s a female, crazy or perhaps because Questlove is a huge President Obama supporter?
