Uber Driver Sends Horrifying Texts To Cancer Patient After Cancelled Ride

Alexandra Craigle, a 25-year-old cancer patient, is speaking out after receiving horrifying texts from an Uber driver. After finishing radiation at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, she decided to cancel her Uber ride a minute after she placed the call for a driver.

What happened next will probably go down in history as the worst customer service alive, if you don’t count the one Uber driver that took an unsuspecting woman hostage. Craigle said after she cancelled her ride, the driver of the Uber car left an angry voice mail, placed numerous calls, and sent her texts that accused her of having mental problems.

The kicker here? In one of the texts the Uber driver told the 25-year-old that she deserves cancer. After receiving “You are not human..” as a text, Craigle decided to explain her situation despite the rude text. “Just left cancer treatment, if that helps clear that up. Had to go back to get my scarf to cover my bald head. Thanks though for great customer service.”

The driver had the audacity to then reply to the text, “Yeah right. I think you deserve what happened to you with such a caracter [sic]. You hang up the phone and cancel the trip.. go see a head doctor too.” We should note that Uber has a five-minute grace period in place, but apparently this driver didn’t seem to care. Based on these texts he sent Craigle, we’re willing to bet he didn’t read up on Uber protocol.

Not like she had to, but the Uber customer explained her decision for canceling to the New York Daily News, “It was freezing cold, I was and still am suffering from shingles, am on liquid morphine, and didn’t feel like waiting for the Uber driver to drive two avenues to me.”

Fortunately, in this case Uber took full responsibility and terminated the driver from their service. The company made a statement, “Uber has a zero tolerance policy for abusive or threatening language on our platform, and as we have done in this instance, we immediately deactivate any driver found in violation of that policy.”

This still doesn’t solve the increasing problem Uber is running into by not having their driver’s on staff. Although Uber claims that they screen their drivers and perform background checks, it’s obvious that they need to tighten their screening process so people like Alexandra Craigle never have to deal with this again.
