TNA News: Former WWE Superstar Alberto Del Rio Likely To Sign With TNA Wrestling In 2015
In a new report, it appears that former WWE Superstar Alberto Del Rio could be signing with TNA Wrestling in 2015. Del Rio was going through a bit of an issue originally, as his WWE non-compete clause had him unable to wrestle in the United States for a televised company for a year. As we know, WWE and Del Rio were able to settle where Del Rio would be let out of his non-compete.
This allows Del Rio to sign anywhere he wants and it appears he will be signing with TNA, but also Lucha Underground.
Del Rio said in a recent video that he planned to sign with two televised wrestling companies in 2015. He has obviously been in talks with Lucha Underground and has already started on his plans to work there. Meanwhile, TNA was said to have offered Del Rio a big contract earlier in the year. The problem was, Del Rio couldn’t accept the deal due to the WWE non-compete.
Also, many think that he will not want to sign a long-term contract with TNA as he still wants to have some freedom.
It uncertain why Del Rio wants to work for both or even how the contracts will be structured to fit both parties. However, both companies want him so it’s obvious a deal will take place.
Del Rio recently appeared at Tommy Dreamer’s House of Hardcore to a big ovation. Fans do like him, but toward the end of his WWE career, fans were not in love with the Del Rio character. Rightfully so, in fact — as he wasn’t doing anything of note. When he was, such as his rivalry with Dolph Ziggler, fans liked what Del Rio brought to the table. TNA and Lucha Underground both have fantastic wrestlers so it is pretty clear that he will have some great matches on both programs.
TNA is said to be signing a new TV deal soon, if they have not already. An announcement is expected to take place this week in regards to where they will end up. TNA might debut on their new network with Alberto, which would only be helpful to the company. It is uncertain if TNA still plans to offer Del Rio the deal that they did before. It was said that if he signed, TNA would make him the TNA World Champion immediately.
That said, we can expect TNA to use Del Rio a lot. So if you’re a Del Rio fan, TNA will be the best place to see him if you have the new network they end up on. Meanwhile, due to him working with Lucha Underground, there is another opportunity there to see him. There is no word currently if his former WWE manager Ricardo Rodriquez will accompany him to either Lucha Underground or TNA just yet.
