Did Ray J Make More Money From Kim Kardashian’s Photo Than Kanye West?
Singer Ray J may have made more money from Kim Kardashian “breaking the Internet” than her own husband, rapper Kanye West.
TMZ reported on Tuesday that Ray J was able to make a substantial amount of money from Kim Kardashian’s nude photos because of his sex tape, which originally made the reality TV starlet famous in the first place.
Inside sources at Vivid Entertainment reportedly told TMZ that sales for the “Kim K Superstar” sex tape have “dramatically spiked.” The drastic increase in sales will translate into a huge payday for Ray J since he will be able to pocket $50,000 from last week’s sales alone.
Keep in mind that Ray J reportedly gets around $90,000 every three months from Vivid Entertainment for the “Kim K Superstar” sales. The fact that he was able to make over half of that amount in one week alone is a big deal.
Steve Hirsch, the president of Vivid Entertainment, reportedly told TMZ that “Kim K Superstar” is also a record-breaking video since it is now the highest-selling celebrity sex tape of all time.
If Ray J has been able to make $50,000 so far from the Internet-breaking photo of his former girlfriend, how much did Kim’s current husband Kanye West make?
According to reports from Pop Sugar and TMZ, Kim Kardashian was not paid anything at all for the photo shoot.
TMZ reported that compensation was never really an option. Paper magazine did not have enough money to pay Kim’s market value, but she apparently just wanted the opportunity to be photographed by internationally-known photographer Jean-Paul Goude.
Therefore, this means that Kanye West and Kim Kardashian more than likely walked away from the experience without a lot of money (if any).
However, the comparison of these figures between “Kimye” and Ray J would have to be put into perspective slightly in order to see the real picture.
Neither party got paid anything directly from the photo shoot, especially if Paper magazine was not even able to pay Kim Kardashian for taking the pictures.
One could claim that Ray J was able to make money on the back-end “by association.” In that case, the viral spotlight and increased exposure from Kim Kardashian’s controversial pictures will likely pay off for her in a big way over time.
Even if it just draws more traffic towards the numerous business ventures and reality television shows she already has under her belt, chances are that Kim Kardashian will make a lot of money in the future from the exposure her #BreakTheInternet pictures have received.
In addition, Kanye West will be able to reap those benefits as well — by association.
