Mama June Shannon Cleared Of Wrongdoing By Children and Family Services
Mama June Shannon was cleared of wrongdoing by Georgia’s Department of Children and Family Services. The government organization was alerted amid allegations that Shannon was dating a convicted pedophile and allowing him to spend time with her children.
Although their investigation is ongoing, Georgia’s DCFS has determined that Alana “Honey Boo Boo,” Lauryn “Pumpkin,” and Jessica “Chubbs,” were not “physically or emotionally harmed” by Shannon’s relationship with Mark McDaniel.
In March 2004, McDaniel was convicted of sexually molesting an 8-year-old girl. It was later revealed that victim was Shannon’s eldest daughter Anna.
Although McDaniel spent 10 years in prison, and will remain a registered sex offender, he was released earlier this year. According to reports, he and Mama June Shannon have rekindled their relationship.
Shannon has denied the allegations. As reported by E! Online, Honey Boo Boo’s mother admits seeing McDaniel on two occasions following his release. However, she denies having a romantic relationship with the convicted child molester.
According to Mama June, she agreed to meet with McDaniel for two reasons. She wanted him to see her daughter Lauryn “Pumpkin,” because she considered him a father figure. She also wanted to comfort him, as he was recently diagnosed with leukemia.
Mama June Shannon’s alleged relationship with McDaniel was originally reported by TMZ. Although she admits spending time with her former friend, she said photos, which accompanied the article, were faked.
In one of the more disturbing photos, Shannon and McDaniel appear to be laying together in bed. Shannon said she “had a company analyze that one and it’s been photoshopped.” Representatives with TMZ denied faking the photo.
As reported by ABC News, Mama June admits that she is “not a perfect parent” and that she “made a mistake” spending time with a convicted child molester. However, she underlined the fact that she is “not in a relationship with Mark McDaniel.”
Amid the allegations, Shannon agreed to an interview with Dr. Phil. As reported by The Hollywood Gossip, Dr. Phil said he does “not believe what she had to say.” He further suggests that Mama June Shannon has a history of toxic relationships — which could endanger her children.
“She’s been involved with four men that we know of, and out of these four relationships, all four of them have been to jail or prison, two of them for sexual molestation… This woman has been making bad choices with these children and with the men in her life for a long, long time.”
During a recent interview, June Shannon also revealed that she has been suffering with medical issues. Although she has not seen a doctor, Shannon admitted that she is concerned as she “pretty much sleeps all the time” and “every bone in [her] body hurts.”
Despite the continued allegations, Mama June Shannon has vehemently denied that she and Mark McDaniel are romantically involved. She said her children remain her most important priority.
