WWE: Brock Lesnar UFC Return Possible? Dana White Says Brock Is ‘Interested’ In MMA Return

Brock Lesnar’s UFC return may set the WWE Universe on fire with controversy soon. UFC President Dana White has confirmed that the current holder of WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt is now “interested” in returning to MMA, and it’s possible the switch could come shortly after WrestleMania 31.

In a related report by The Inquisitr, despite having Brock Lesnar as his number one wrestler right now, Paul Heyman still believes CM Punk is still the best in the world. It’s presumed that Lesnar will face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 31, and that idea just became realistically possible based upon the latest update on Roman Reigns’ return schedule. Of course, if the WWE World Heavyweight Title is actually being defended then Mr. Money In The Bank, Seth Rollins, probably has something to say about that match.

In 2009, Brock Lesnar fought the biggest fight in his life with a case of diverticulitis, a debilitating stomach disease that took years to recover from. Lesnar’s UFC winning streak started to suffer after the illness took hold and he suffered a flare up that caused him to cancel a match in 2011. After having surgery to remove a foot length of his colon, Lesnar was TKO’d in under three minutes in his last MMA match. This result caused Lesnar to promptly announce his retirement until he eventually made his way to back to the WWE.

Based upon previous reports, Brock Lesnar’s contract with the WWE happens to expire at the end of March in 2015, which just happens to be the time frame of WrestleMania 31. This would leave Lesnar a free agent and it’s believed that Brock has a been a negotiating beast with Vince McMahon and Triple H, using the possibility of his return to the UFC as leverage for getting a better deal. The question is whether the WWE considers him worth the price of doing business, and whether or not this bargaining chip holds any weight. After all, Lesnar is set to turn 38-years-old in 2015, which is quite advanced in years when it comes to the MMA world.

But UFC president Dana White dropped the bombshell that Brock Lesnar’s UFC return may actually interest the former UFC heavyweight champion.

“Brock Lesnar’s under contract with the WWE. We have a great relationship with him. He’s healthy and he has said that he’s interested in fighting again,” White stated according to FOX Sports. “We’ll see what happens.”

This is the first time that White has openly acknowledged that Brock Lesnar may be interested in returning to the Octagon. Previously, all White would say is that he would like to see the “Beast” compete in UFC again.

“It’s pretty amazing what he did and accomplished here while having diverticulitis,” White said. “It would be interesting to see a 100-percent healthy Brock Lesnar compete.”

If Brock Lesnar does in fact start negotiating with the UFC, it could dramatically change the plans for WrestleMania 31. After all, would Vince McMahon really want a reigning WWE champion to be defending the title at the biggest WWE event of the year when everyone knows he’s set to leave right after? This fact had Jim Ross stating it was possible the WWE would have Brock Lesnar lose his title at Royal Rumble 2015.

“It’s going to be curious to see how WWE addresses the contractual issue with their part time, WWE World Champion Brock Lesnar as his contract is allegedly expiring shortly after WM31. There is no way that I would roll into Levis Stadium with Brock as the Champion if I did not have a new contract in place for the amazing athlete. If Lesnar isn’t signed to a new, more WWE friendly deal by early January there is no reason for him to make it out of the Royal Rumble as the WWE World Champion.”

What do you think the WWE should do if Brock Lesnar decides to to return to the UFC?
