WWE: Daniel Bryan Comments On Return, And It Doesn’t Look Good

Daniel Bryan has issued a new comment regarding his possible WWE return, and fans are likely to be disappointed.

In an interview with Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, the former WWE Heavyweight Champion and leader of the “YES Movement” admitted that he’s no closer to knowing what’s next than he was before.

The comments, first transcribed by Cageside Seats, betray Bryan’s initial optimism with a thick slab of uncertainty.

“I’m not actually sure, nobody really knows when I’ll be back, I’m hoping to be back in January and be ready for WrestleMania here in Levi Stadium, but there’s no way to know. Right now, there’s contemplation of doing a second surgery to my elbow, but we just don’t really know, we’re just doing our best to get me back and healthy.”

The Inquisitr had previously reported that Bryan’s career in the WWE was possibly over, at least as an active in-ring performer.

Daniel Bryan (aka Bryan Danielson) has been well-loved among fans since his Ring of Honor days from 2002 to 2005. He represents the last of a dying breed — the wrestler who could make it onto the big stage without being a strictly WWE creation. Moving forward, it will be increasingly difficult for other stars to bring their celebrity with them into the company while making it to the top.

Perhaps Bryan’s biggest moment came at WrestleMania 30 when he was booked over Triple H in a singles match and then won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship later that night in a triple-threat match against Randy Orton and Batista. Unfortunately, it wasn’t long after that that the surgery, the title-strip, and the indefinite hiatus came about.

What makes these latest Daniel Bryan developments so discouraging to those of us who consider ourselves fans is how the Internet Wrestling Community (IWC) continually tries to will it away, as if positive speculation might make a comeback feasible. Unfortunately, the only reputable sources that we have to go on at this point — WWE insiders and Daniel Bryan himself — are essentially saying, “Don’t get your hopes up.”

Of course, this is the business of professional wrestling, and it would be great for business if WWE could bring back Bryan as a surprise at a high-profile pay-per-view — say, Royal Rumble or WrestleMania — but for now, the company is moving forward creatively without him.

Let the No-No-No’s begin.

What do you think, readers? Is Daniel Bryan done for good?
