Sam Smith Isn’t Lonely Anymore — He Plans To Be A Legend

Pop star Sam Smith recently revealed that his hugely successful album In the Lonely Hour was about an unrequited love in his life — a man who didn’t love him back. Because of this, it’s understandable to think Sam Smith could still be dragging his feet over the relationship. But thanks to the love of his fans, Sam Smith claims to be doing better than ever. In fact, he hopes to someday be a legend in the music industry.

According to the Associated Press, the void in Sam Smith’s life, left there by the unrequited love, has slowly been filled. Sam has been dating other men and going to parties.

“I’m going on dates, here and there, meeting people. I’m not lonely anymore because of that, but obviously I would like someone next to me while I sleep. But I’m working on that.”

Sam Smith’s emotional state, for better or for worse, has never been a secret to his fans. In fact, Sam’s deepest, darkest feelings are a major part of his music.

“When I’m speaking about my insecurities… that’s when my music is the best. And that doesn’t happen every day, so this writing process was quite dramatic and because I was trying to get these songs that were honest and brutal and real. I’m not a naturally sad person, so I was writing for a year and I wasn’t sad every single day for a year, so that was tough.”

Sam also owes much of his emotional recovery to his devoted fans. And there are a lot of them. In the Lonely Hour has sold more than 772,969 copies so far, and his single “Stay With Me” peaked in the number 2 spot of the U.K. Billboard charts. Sam Smith has a lot of celebrity fans as well, including Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige.

Despite all that success, Sam Smith always seems to want more.

“I remember being ecstatic for having 200 Facebook likes. Now I take that completely for granted now that I have like a million. But I’m now thinking, ‘I really would like two million.'”

In a recent interview, he revealed that he was obsessed with becoming a pop star all his life. Now that Smith has achieved that goal, he’s setting his sights even higher. According to Unreality TV, Sam Smith wants to be a legend. After Sam Smith met with American Vogue editor Anna Wintour, he realized he wanted to achieve the same kind of notoriety as her.

“It’s beautiful to meet someone who is truly a legend in her field. I’d like to be a legend in my field, one day.”

Sam Smith still wants a lot from his personal life as well. He recently shared a list of the five simple things he still wants to accomplish. One is, of course, finding a husband. But the other four may surprise you. Find out what they are here.
