Porsha Williams Unfazed By RHOA Demotion?

The days of Porsha Williams holding a peach in the opening bump of Real Housewives of Atlanta may be over, but she doesn’t think it’s a big deal. At least, she doesn’t want anyone to think so.

TMZ caught up with Porsha Williams at LAX this week and questioned her about her demotion from full time housewife to “friend of the show.”

According to Williams, the demotion isn’t a big deal. The current season, RHOA’s seventh, features veteran housewives Nene Leaks, Kandi Burrus, Cynthia Bailey, and Phaedra Parks. Williams will appear, but will no longer be a focal point or hold a peach in the opening segment of the show. Also returning is Kenya Moore, with whom Williams had a physical altercation at last season’s reunion taping.

Williams explained what her new position means, “The main difference is you won’t see as much of my personal life. Which I have a lot going on.”

Williams told the photographer that she was surprised to be demoted, and didn’t know the reason behind the decision. As the Inquisitr previously reported, when news of Williams’ demotion was first announced, it was widely reported that her fight with Kenya Moore and difficult behavior during filming was the reason. However, not according to executive producer Carlos King.

In an interview with celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, King said, “Andy Cohen spoke about Porsha’s demotion and he specifically stated that it was a decision made from the network due to the lack of personal story info that Porsha was offering this season.”

After Williams’ demotion was announced, there were rumors of a spin-off show, but it seems unlikely that Williams would be given a show all to herself when she couldn’t produce enough interesting footage for the season with the help of seven other women. Interestingly, when asked about the spin-off show, Porsha says “Yeah, I didn’t leak that,” even though the photographer didn’t accuse her of leaking the information.

Williams is replaced by new full time cast member Claudia Jordan, a friend of controversial cast member Kenya Moore, and part time cast member Demetria McKinney, a friend of Cynthia Bailey. Reportedly, Jordan was originally meant to be a part time cast member, but after seeing her footage, producers quickly promoted her to peach holder.

Williams isn’t the first Real Housewives franchise star to be demoted. Jacquline Laurita of Real Housewives of New Jersey was removed from the main cast last season, and appeared only occasionally throughout the season, and not at all in the opening montage. Apparently, Laurita was removed from the main cast at her own request so that she could focus on caring for her autistic son, Nicholas. With Teresa Giudice due to start her prison sentence in January, Bravo is in need of a housewife to fill her slot, and Laurita will reportedly return to the show full time next season.

Maybe that means there’s hope of Porsha Williams earning her way back onto the main cast. Until then, King has a message for fans of Porsha Williams, “I can say that Porsha is all over this season as if she was a peach holder (housewife) so fans and #teamporsha should know they will see her READ and throw SHADE like she always does!!”
