Elisabeth Shue Becomes Newest ‘CSI’ Cast Member

As longtime cast member Marg Helgenberger prepares to depart the hit CBS show CSI she will be replaced by Oscar-nominated actress Elisabeth Shue.

Known for her roles in Leaving Las Vegas, Cocktail and an 80’s favorite Adventures in Babysitting Shue will join the CBS drama in February 2012.

According to reports her character will be a female forensics officer who has a past with D.B. Russell (Ted Danson) who arrives at the station after first completing a course in anger management.

Speaking about the movie to cast Shue in a co-starring role CSI producer Carol Mendelsohn revealed:

“While it’s difficult to say goodbye to a beloved character like [Helgenberger’s] Catherine Willows, it’s exciting to start a journey with a new CSI, especially when that character is played by Elisabeth Shue. The new CSI also struggles with ‘brutal honesty issues’ and suffers no fools.”

Do you think Elisabeth Shue is a good replacement for Helgenberger? Will you still be tuning into the show? If all else fails she can babysit for any police officers with children, on second thought we all know how horribly wrong that can go.
