WWE News: WWE Working On World Heavyweight Title Plans, What That Means For Seth Rollins

It is obvious by now that fans are not happy with the fact that Brock Lesnar is holding the WWE World Heavyweight Title. Initially, fans were happy with it, as it gave us someone other than John Cena to hold the title. Lesnar also demolished Cena to win the title, and fans were more than overjoyed by this. The problem is, since Night of Champions, we’ve barely heard a peep from Lesnar.

John Cena officially became the number one contender for the World Title by beating Randy Orton at Hell in a Cell inside the Cell itself. However, that match with Lesnar is supposed to take place at the Royal Rumble, two months away. WWE realizes that fans are tired of not even seeing the champ, and thus, also forgetting about the WWE World Heavyweight Title itself.

According to Daily Wrestling News, this is why WWE is working on a few plans to get the title back in the spotlight. However, most fans would simply say WWE could resolve this by having Lesnar actually appear on some actual WWE programming.

Meanwhile, we have the Money in the Bank Winner with no one to cash in on. Seth Rollins won the case back in the summer, and has yet to cash it in for an official match. A few times this was due to a lunatic by the name of Dean Ambrose who stopped him. The other times John Cena got in the way. Since then, however, he has not cashed in because the champ has been MIA. Seriously, search parties have been put out. There is a BOLO in all states north of the Dakotas as well as all of Canada.

Rollins is set to enter a rivalry with Randy Orton, once the Viper returns from his “storyline injury.” That means we will see a lot of Rollins heading into the first of the year, but he will not be able to cash in until 2015.

Lesnar Heyman

There was word that WWE would be putting Brock Lesnar up against Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania 31. However, there has been speculation that those plans might be changing. WWE would like to give a good title run to Reigns when he wins the title, so there is some indication that Rollins will cash in come January and then lose the title in February.

Many think this will not happen, as having Lesnar lose to Rollins right now, regardless of how, kills the momentum of Lesnar heading in to face Reigns.

That means we may not see Reigns hold the title for more than a few months, as the MITB case would expire that summer.

WWE could always have Rollins cash in and lose, similar to Damien Sandow. However, that is unlikely, as WWE wants him to be champion one day. This would be the best way to do it currently. That said, WWE has a decision to make regarding Rollins and Reigns. Who do they want to build more? Do they have Reigns win the title off of an unstoppable monster, only to lose to Rollins, or do they have Rollins lose to WWE’s next big thing?

There is a lot of speculation, but it appears like WWE will have Rollins cash in and win sometime after WrestleMania 31. However, many expect it to be closer to the summer of 2015. For now, we can expect WWE to continue building Rollins. Reigns will be back next month or early January. WWE will most likely push him hard leading into the Royal Rumble match, where he is expected to win. Lesnar may not be seen on WWE programming, live at least, until the first of next year. We never know though; WWE could have the champion grace us with his presence a few times leading into the new year.
