Kim Kardashian Is Putting Girls At Risk For Child Abuse, Moms Union Declares

Kim Kardashian selfies are putting children at “risk of child abuse” and making girls more vulnerable to sexual predators, according to the Mothers’ Union and the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children — NSPCC. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians reality show celebrity was recently singled out for criticism by the child abuse prevention group. The Mothers’ Union said that many of the “indecent child images” found on social media networks and the internet are “self-generated.”

Kardashian reportedly has an extensive habit of posting “explicit sexual images” of herself in various stages of undress on the internet. The Mothers’ Union and the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children feel that Kim Kardashian’s scantily clad photos are encouraging young girls to do the same, and therefore make themselves targets of sexual predators.

The NSPCC debated the selfie habits of the reality show celebrity who inspired the #BreaktheInternet hashtag earlier this week. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Kim Kardashian posed for a “butt pic” on the cover of Paper Magazine. The controversial image quickly went viral. Kardashian is “notorious for sharing provocative images of her body with her 25 million Twitter followers on a daily basis,” according to the Daily Mail.

Kim Kardashian selfies are making girls targets for sexual predators, NSPCC and Mothers’ Union says.

North West of England Chief Prosecutor Nazir Afzal said Kim Kardashian was enticing young girls into “sexualizing themselves,” and in the process, giving opportunities to sexual predators and child molesters. Afzal helped convict a Rochdale gang of predators for abusing up to 47 girls in 2012.

“The sexualization of children does not help. The reality is that younger and younger children these days are now exposed to the kinds of things, I saw Kim Kardashian a couple of days ago [the magazine images] It’s those kinds of things, role models out there saying this is the way to live your lives. But unfortunately, [predatory] men want that to happen, want them to believe that’s the way to be, that men can interfere with them and damage them in some way,” Afzal added.

Mothers’ Union CEO and government adviser Reg Bailey concurred with Afzal during a meeting on related topics at the London School of Economics last week. Bailey added that teenage sexting has “become normalized,” and cause concerns because many of the sexual images of young girls now found online are being created by the children themselves.

“The idea of what was regarded as pornography, and what you see being very much available now, is very, very different. And it does worry me too, about sexting and sexualized imagery in text messaging,” Bailey added.

Kris Jenner said that Kim Kardashian is “obsessed with selfies,” according to a video shared on the Daily Mail.

Do you think that Kim Kardashian selfies are dangerous examples for young girls to follow? Are you baffled that so many people seem extremely interested in what Kim Kardashian and other celebrities do on a daily basis?
