‘The Walking Dead’ Season 5: Carol And Daryl On Beth’s Trail [Video]

[Warning: Spoilers Ahead!]

After last week’s stunning revelations surrounding Eugene on The Walking Dead, this week’s episode shifts back to Daryl and Carol’s hunt for their lost companion, Beth. And AMC has released a promo as to what’s in store for these fan-faves.

For those in need of a refresher, it was towards the end of Walking Dead Season 4, when Daryl and Beth — after spending time on the run together — got separated following a zombie attack. Daryl made it out of the funeral home they were holed up in alive, while Beth was kidnapped by a mysterious black limo.

We learned two weeks ago in Walking Dead Episode 5×04 that Beth was taken to a hospital run by deranged ex-cops. After a series of traumatic events there, the episode ends with Beth hovering over a wounded Carol hauled into the hospital on a gurney. We also know at the end of Walking Dead Episode 5×03 that not only does Daryl makes it back to camp alive, but he arrives with a mystery guest in tow. This sneak preview indicates that we should learn what happened in between.

The AMC promo finds Carol, played by Melissa McBride, and Daryl, played by Norman Reedus, hot on Beth’s kidnapper’s trail.

“If they’re a group, we’ll see what they can do,” Daryl tells Carol as they stealthily tail the black limo responsible for hauling Beth away in the aforementioned Walking Dead Season 4 episode. “Right now they’ve got the advantage.”

We then find a series of shots of Daryl and Carol, weapons ready, fighting through hordes of zombies. Finally Carol’s voiceover plays, “Stay close to the buildings and keep quiet. But sooner or later, we’re going to have to fight to get through.”

The last shot in the montage finds Daryl burning something on a rooftop. Is it a body? And if so, whose?

As reported by Inquisitr, there are many theories and potential spoilers abound for Waling Dead Season 5, and almost all of them include the possibility of a major character death. Already, the group lost one of their own, Bob, to a group of hungry cannibals who ate his leg and a zombie bite that ultimately did him in away.

But as fans of the comic book will tell you, most of what happens on the show, in some way, shape or form mirrors of what happens in the comic book first, so spoilers like Eugene’s revelation that he is not a scientist is something hardcore Walking Dead fans had known about the minute Josh McDermitt set foot on screen last season.

Just this week, Comicbook.com featured the cover art for The Walking Dead #137 showing a much different Carl than what fans of the TV show are used to seeing. Could this be in the cards for Walking Dead anytime soon? Only time will tell.

The Walking Dead Season Five continues Sunday on AMC at 9 p.m.
