Is Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ Song ‘How You Get The Girl’ About Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez?

Is Taylor Swift’s 1989 album song “How You Get The Girl” based on everything she knows about best pal Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber’s endlessly on-off relationship?

What, some of you might ask? Would Swift really plunder the love life of her friend SelGo for inspiration? Oh come now, you already know the answer to that.

Well, after looking after the lyrics, it’s possible “Girl” is about the recently deceased Jelena.

Justin and Selena split up during their Paris Fashion Week trip, for reasons that aren’t yet publicly known. Since then, the 22-year-old Latina starlet dropkicked her latest single “The Heart Wants What It Wants” on the Internet, and let’s just say it doesn’t paint Justin in the most flattering light.

Then, this weekend, the actress-singer was spotted out on a seemingly romantic date with former Wizards of Waverly Place co-star David Henri.

So, if our favorite Canadian is lovesick for his ex-sweetheart, he could do a lot worse than follow the instructions in Swift’s “How You Get The Girl.” Taylor previously described it as a “tutorial” for getting a girl back if “you ruined the relationship somehow and she won’t talk to you anymore.”

Seeing as Justin did unfollow Selena on Instagram this weekend, it seems there has been a breakdown in communication, even as friends.

More recently, Swift spoke to Us Weekly and dished more specific insights about the song, and it has to be said it positively reeks of the Jelena love story.

Swift declared: “It’s written for a guy who has broken up with his girlfriend, then wants her back after six months.”

“But it’s not going to be as simple as sending a text like, ‘Sup? Miss you.'”

According to the lyrics of “How You Get The Girl,” if a kicked-to-the-curb former boyfriend knocks on the door of his long-suffering girlfriend, the formula below is what he should tell her.

“I want you for worse or for better / I would wait for ever and ever / Broke your heart, I’ll put it back together / I would wait for ever and ever.”

More of Taylor’s pearls of wisdom:

“Remind her how it used to be / Yeah, yeah / With pictures in frames, of kisses on cheeks / Tell her how you must’ve lost your mind / When you left her all alone.”

Are you thinking what we’re thinking? All those Instagrams Justin used to put up whenever it seemed like he and Selena were having an argument. On second thoughts, that didn’t work out so well. Perhaps Swift needs to rewrite that line?

Thoughts readers? Do you think “How You Get The Girl” is an ode to Justin and Selena’s romance woes?
