Saints’ Jimmy Graham Groped By The Joker After Dive Into Stands

Jimmy Graham of the New Orleans Saints is dealing with a very hard season as the team is just 4-5 after 10 weeks of the season, but somehow, they’re still in first place in the NFC South. This past weekend, Graham scored a touchdown against the San Francisco 49ers and decided to make things fun and jump into the stands to celebrate with the fans.

It was the first time he had ever done it before, but he said he likely will never do it again. That’s because the star tight end got his tight end grabbed by a fan.

A fan dressed as the Joker.

According to Nola.com, the Joker is actually a super fan named Scott McGowan. He’s at just about every single Saints’ game, and always dressed as the Joker. While the support is appreciated, Jimmy Graham doesn’t think he will ever do a “Lagniappe Leap” again.

“That’ll probably be my last one after I got groped up,” Graham said. “It was a moment in the game and I just wanted to go and thank all the fans for being there. Some people were trying to thank me a little too much.”

Graham has had to try and find different ways to celebrate this season, as his customary dunk over the goalpost was banned by the NFL. After he did one last season and bent the goalposts out of shape, it was time for a rule change and the NFL passed it.

Fox Sports reports that Jimmy Graham did bring the goalpost dunk back in the preseason of this year, as he did it twice during a game in August. Those two dunks not only drew unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, but he was later fined $30,000 for them as well.

As the goalpost dunk is no longer an option for Graham, it appears as if the leap into the stands is not going to continue on either. Sometimes you just don’t want an extra little touching when you’re one of the most well-known football players in the world.

The Saints would go on to lose to the 49ers in overtime, and now must try to rebound against the Cincinnati Bengals in week 11 of the 2014 NFL regular season. A win would distance them from the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons who play each other in an NFC South divisional match-up.

Jimmy Graham has 56 receptions for 594 yards and seven touchdowns on the season. He’s having a good season, but the Saints have got to do something to liven things up or they may not even make the playoffs at all.
